Strong coupling between single qubits is crucial for quantum information science and quantum computation. However, it is still challenged, especially for single solid-state qubit. Here, we propose a hybrid quantum system, consisting of a coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonator weakly coupled to a single nitrogen-vacancy (NV) spin in diamond and an yttrium-iron-garnet (YIG) nanosphere holding Kerr magnons, to realize strong long-distance spin-spin coupling.

A novel visible-light-induced sulfonylation cyclization to indole-fused medium-sized -heterocycles was established under room temperature with biomass-derived 2-Me-THF as the solvent. This reaction proceeds in the absence of external photocatalyst, additive, metal salts, and base. Broad substrate scope, good functional group compatibility, and large-scale synthesis and derivatization via iodination, nitration, chlorination, cyanation, and selenylation demonstrate the utility of this protocol.

Indole-fused medium-sized diazepinones are privileged structural motifs found in many high-value pharmaceuticals. To construct these challenging molecular skeletons, previous methods are mainly achieved by [5+2] annulation strategies with the aid of transition metal (Pd, Rh, Ru) catalyzed oxidative C-H coupling. Herein, we report a novel visible-light-induced sulfonylation-cyclization-selenylation reaction for the rapid construction of highly functionalized indole-fused medium-sized diazepinones with biomass feedstock 2-Me-THF as the medium.

Neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) are a class of cognitive and motor disorders including Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), Huntington's disease (HD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and others. They are caused by lesions in cells and tissues of the central nervous system, resulting in corresponding dysfunctions and consequent decline in cognitive and motor functions. Neural tissues are extremely vulnerable to oxidative stress, which plays critical biological roles in NDDs.

Itch is a distinct and bothersome sensation closely associated with a strong urge to scratch. Both the parabrachial nucleus (PBN) and the central amygdala (CeA) are responsive to itch stimuli and contain neurons that express tachykinin 1 (Tac1), which are known for their significant involvement in itch-induced scratching at both spinal and supraspinal levels. Significantly, the PBN neurons project their axons to form close connections with the CeA neurons.

To enhance firefighters' safety in fire environments, new phase-change protective clothing was developed using a drip molding process to improve thermal protection and thermal comfort. The effects of the droplet interval (1, 1.5 and 2 cm) and droplet diameter (4, 6 and 8 mm) on the thermal protective performance under low thermal radiation were examined by the stored energy tester (SET).

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma, the predominant subtype of lung cancer, presents a significant challenge to public health due to its notably low five-year survival rate. Recent epidemiological data highlights a concerning trend: patients with pulmonary adenocarcinoma and comorbid diabetes exhibit substantially elevated mortality rates compared to those without diabetes, suggesting a potential link between hyperinsulinemia in diabetic individuals and accelerated progression of pulmonary adenocarcinoma. Insulin Receptor (IR) is a tyrosine-protein kinase on the cell surface, and its over-expression is considered the pathological hallmark of hyperinsulinemia in various cancer cell types.

A Mn(III)-mediated radical cascade cyclization of -propargyl enamides with sodium sulfinates was developed. Mechanistic studies indicated that this cascade process is mainly composed of the chemoselective addition of sulfonyl radical to C≡C bond and the regioselective intramolecular 6--trig cyclization. This protocol provided a powerful method for the divergent synthesis of diverse polysubstituted -sulfonylpyridines or 1,2-dihydropyridines just by varying solvent and temperature featuring good functional group compatibility and simple operation.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide and inflammation is believed to play an important role in CRC. In this study, we comprehensively analyzed the causal association between 91 circulating inflammatory cytokines and the risk of CRC using Mendelian randomization (MR). Based on genome-wide association study summary statistics, we examined the causal effects of 91 circulating inflammatory cytokines on CRC.

Nemo-like kinases (NLKs) integrate multiple signaling pathways and exhibit functional diversity in developmental processes, including the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) pathway. However, their roles in insect wing development, particularly in hemimetabolous insects like the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens), remain poorly understood. Here, we investigated the role of Nlnemo (Nlnmo), an NLK, in the wing development of N.

In wildland firefighting, the air gap (AG) between clothing and the human body can effectively decrease heat transferred to skin but has a negative impact on thermal aging of clothing. Heat transfer to skin from a fire source can led to burn injuries and heat is transmitted between adjacent AGs parallel to the skin surface. An open AG simulator was developed to explore the dual effects of the AG on fabric thermal aging and skin thermal protection.

An iron(III)-mediated nucleophilic cascade cyclization of -propiolyl enamides with various diselenides was developed, which provides an efficient way to construct seleno-heterocycles. A mechanism study shows that the cascade process involves the selective addition of diselenides to the C≡C bond generating a seleniranium ion, followed by an intramolecular nucleophilic attack of enaminic carbon of tertiary enamide. Utilizing this protocol, a variety of 3-seleno-2-pyridones were successfully synthesized featuring good functional group compatibility and simple operation.

The H9N2 subtype avian influenza virus (AIV) continues to propagate and undergo evolution within China, thereby posing a significant threat to the poultry industry. This study encompassed the collection of 436 samples and swabs in East China over the period spanning 2018 to 2019, from which 31 strains of the H9N2 subtype viruses were isolated and purified. We revealed that the HA and NA genes of the 31 isolates categorized within the Y280 branch, while the PB2 and M genes were associated with the G1 branch, and the remaining genes aligned with the F/98 branch.

Metal chalcogenide-based cathodes are crucial for the development of rechargeable magnesium batteries, yet the strong electrostatic interactions of Mg result in slow ion transport and high polarization. The Mg/Li hybrid battery holds promise for enhancing the energy storage capability. Herein, we establish a system that utilizes (Co,Cu)Se/CoSe heterostructure grown on carbon cloth as the cathode and APC-LiCl as a dual-salt electrolyte to achieve high reversible capacity, enhanced cyclic stability, and impressive rate performance.

  • - Dermatan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate are dietary supplements that can help prevent blood clots, with low-molecular-weight dermatan sulfate (LMWDS) being especially effective due to its high absorption rate.
  • - The study explored improving the efficiency of chondroitin B lyases, which are enzymes used to create LMWDS, by engineering their substrate-binding domain through a design strategy that involved modifying specific amino acids.
  • - Four mutations showed significant increases in enzyme activity, and the combination of two mutations (H134Y/R159K) resulted in a dramatic 3.21-fold enhancement, potentially making these enzymes more useful in pharmaceuticals and food products.
