Article Synopsis
  • Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome (VKHS) is a prevalent uveitis that targets melanocyte-rich tissues, with increasing incidence and unclear pathogenesis.
  • The condition typically affects the posterior segment of the eye, causing serious issues like retinal detachment and chorioretinitis, potentially leading to vision loss if not treated promptly.
  • This study aims to explore the underlying mechanisms of VKHS and summarizes current research to enhance understanding and guide future studies in the field.

Background: Most recently, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) emerge as crucial modulators in many biological processes, such as embryonic development, cell growth, and tumorigenesis. However, the correlations between lncRNAs and colorectal cancer (CRC) cell proliferation, metastasis, and gemcitabine resistance are not well understood.

Results: The expression of AGAP2-AS1 was overexpressed in CRC tissues and negatively correlated with the survival of patients with CRC.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of chloride channel protein 2 (ClC-2) in glutamate-induced apoptosis in the retinal ganglion cell line (RGC-5).

Materials And Methods: RGC-5 cells were treated with 1 mM glutamate for 24 hr. The expression of ClC-2, Bax, and Bcl-2 was detected by western blot analysis.

Malignant mesothelioma is a rare type of cancer, most commonly associated with exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma of the peritoneum, the membrane lining the abdominal cavity, is extremely rare. The current study reports the case of a 60-year-old female who presented with intestinal fistula, recurrent incisional hernia and abdominal infection, with no history of asbestos exposure, and was diagnosed with clear cell MPM.

Fungal keratitis (FK) is a worldwide visual impairment disease. This infectious fungus initiates the primary innate immune response and, later the adaptive immune response. The inflammatory process is related to a variety of immune cells, including macrophages, helper T cells, neutrophils, dendritic cells, and Treg cells, and is associated with proinflammatory, chemotactic and regulatory cytokines.

Chloride channels (ClCs) have gained worldwide interest because of their molecular diversity, widespread distribution in mammalian tissues and organs, and their link to various human diseases. Nine different ClCs have been molecularly identified and functionally characterized in mammals. ClC-2 is one of nine mammalian members of the ClC family.

Aim: Excessive dissolve of corneal tissue induced by MMPs which were activated by cytokins and chemokines will lead to corneal ulcer. The molecular mechanism of Lipoxin A4 (LXA4) on corneal collagen degradation in three dimensions was investigated.

Methods: Rabbit corneal fibroblasts were harvested and suspended in serum-free MEM.
