Antecedents to COVID-19 vaccine uptake among patients and employees in the Veterans Health Administration.

The present study sought to understand the antecedents to COVID-19 vaccination among those reporting a change in vaccine intention in order to improve COVID-19 vaccine uptake in the United States. We employed semi-structured interviews and one focus group discussion with vaccinated and unvaccinated Veterans Health Administration (VHA) employees and Veterans at three Veterans' Affairs medical centers between January and June 2021. A subset of these participants (n=21) self-reported a change in COVID-19 vaccine intention and were selected for additional analysis.

Consequently, field surveys were conducted during the 2018 season in 128 fields across six provinces of Zambia and 640 common bean leaf tissue samples were collected with ( = 585) or without ( = 55) symptoms.

Background: Peer narratives engage listeners through personally relevant content and have been shown to promote lifestyle change and effective self-management among patients with hypertension. Incorporating key quotations from these stories into follow-up text messages is a novel way to continue the conversation, providing reinforcement of health behaviors in the patients' daily lives.

Comparative compositional analysis of cassava brown streak disease resistant 4046 cassava and its non-transgenic parental cultivar.

Compositional analysis is an important component of an integrated comparative approach to assessing the food and feed safety of new crops developed using biotechnology. As part of the safety assessment of cassava brown streak disease resistant 4046 cassava, a comprehensive assessment of proximates, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, anti-nutrients, and secondary metabolites was performed on leaf and storage root samples of 4046 cassava and its non-transgenic parental control, TME 204, collected from confined field trials in Kenya and Uganda over two successive cropping cycles. Among the 100 compositional components that were assessed in samples of 4046 and control TME 204 cassava roots (47 components) and leaves (53 components), there were no nutritionally relevant differences noted.

First report of Ethiopian tobacco bushy top virus and its associated satellite RNA infecting common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in Zambia.

During surveys for common bean viruses in Central Province of Zambia in April 2018, symptoms of bushy top, deep green curled branches and patchy leaf chlorosis were observed on five plants in a 2-ha farmer's field. Total RNA was isolated from symptomatic leaf samples using the CTAB method (Chang et al. 1993).

Storage Root Yield of Sweetpotato as Influenced by and Its Interaction With and in Kenya.

In this study, the effect of a Kenyan strain of (SPLCV) and its interactions with (SPFMV) and (SPCSV) on root yield was determined. Trials were performed during two seasons using varieties Kakamega and Ejumula and contrasting in their resistance to sweetpotato virus disease in a randomized complete block design with 16 treatments replicated three times. The treatments included plants graft inoculated with SPLCV, SPFMV, and SPCSV alone and in possible dual or triple combinations.

Restricted variation in numbers of presacral vertebrae in mammals is a classic example of evolutionary stasis. Cervical number is nearly invariable in most mammals, and numbers of thoracolumbar vertebrae are also highly conserved. A recent hypothesis posits that stasis in mammalian presacral count is due to stabilizing selection against the production of incomplete homeotic transformations at the lumbo-sacral border in fast-running mammals, while slower, ambulatory mammals more readily tolerate intermediate lumbar/sacral vertebrae.

Immunohistochemical localization of and its morphological effect on cassava leaves.

The localization of (CBSV) in cassava () leaf tissues was determined and cellular morphological changes in CBSV-infected tissues were evaluated. CBSV-symptomatic leaves were screened with CBSV-specific primers using reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Immunohistochemical reactions showed precipitation in CBSV-infected but not CBSV-free tissues, demonstrating successful localization of CBSV.
