Article Synopsis
  • * It was found that Ru nanoparticles help in the adsorption of water molecules, while Ru single atoms and clusters improve the release of hydrogen, indicating a specific role for each form in the catalytic process.
  • * Experimental results showed that a combination of 1.07 wt% Ru nanoparticles and clusters on CN achieved a maximum hydrogen evolution rate of 13.64 mmol h g, significantly outperforming samples with just CN or lower amounts of Ru, highlighting the importance of cocatalyst form in optimizing

In this study, nickel hydroxide (Ni(OH)) was employed to modify potassium (K)-doped graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN, CN) for enhancing photocatalytic CO reduction. The light absorption and charge separation performances of CN were enhanced after modification. Experiments and theoretical calculations indicated that the loaded Ni(OH) could gather electrons, facilitate adsorption and activation of CO.
