Craniofacial Fibrous Dysplasia of Zygomaticomaxillary Complex.

Fibrous dysplasia is a benign bone disease first described by Lichtenstein in 1938. It is characterized by progressive replacement of normal bone with fibro-osseous connective tissue. When the disease involves craniofacial skeleton, it results in significant disfigurement and other functional problems.

Clinical and radiological outcome of arthrocentesis followed by autologous blood injection for treatment of chronic recurrent temporomandibular joint dislocation.

Background: This study was conducted to evaluate the functional outcome and MRI findings of arthrocentsis followed by autologous blood injection (ABI) into the joint space for management of chronic recurrent TMJ dislocation.

Material And Methods: Total ten patients with bilateral chronic recurrent condylar dislocation were included in the study. Arthrocentesis of both TMJ was performed on each patient, followed by the injection of 2 ml of autologous blood into the superior joint compartment and 1 ml onto the outer surface of the joint capsule.

Management of Multiple Mandibular Fractures in a Child with Osteogenesis Imperfecta Using Arch Bar Retained Thermoformed Splints: A Novel Technique.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is a heterogeneous group of autosomal dominant and recessive inherited disorders of type I collagen metabolism. Clinical features of OI include multiple bone fractures, muscle weakness, joint laxity, skeletal deformities, blue sclerae, hearing loss, and dentinogenesis imperfecta. This report presents a challenging case of multiple mandibular fractures in a five years old child with OI, which was successfully treated with a new, minimally invasive technique of closed reduction with arch bar retained thermoformed splint.

Follicular Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor in Mandible: A Rare Case Report.

Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a relatively rare, benign, hamartomatous, and cystic odontogenic neoplasm that was first described more than a century ago. The lesion still continues to intrigue experts with its varied histomorphology and controversies regarding its development. The present article describes a case of cystic AOT with an unusual histomorphology associated with an impacted 44 in a 21-year-old male.

Comparison of clinical efficacy of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase for reduction of postoperative sequelae after lower third molar surgery.

Background: Surgical removal of mandibular third molars results in some degree of post-operative pain, swelling and trismus. These can be controlled by proper administration of local anesthesia, careful bone removal, minimal trauma to adjacent soft tissues and administration of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase drugs. The aim of the present study was to compare the efficacy of methylprednisolone and serratiopeptidase in controlling post-operative pain, swelling and trismus after surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars.

Idiopathic huge pyogenic granuloma in young and old: An unusually large lesion in two cases.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a reactive hyperplasia of connective tissue in response to local irritants, chronic irritation and hormonal changes. It is a tumor-like growth of the oral cavity frequently located in the region surrounding the anterior teeth or skin. It usually arises in response to various stimuli, such as low-grade local irritation, traumatic injury, hormonal factors or certain kinds of drugs.

A Large Sialolith Perforating the Wharton's Duct: Review of Literature and a Case Report.
