Breast reconstruction is essential for improving the appearance of patients after cancer surgery. Traditional breast prostheses are not appropriate for those undergoing partial resections and cannot detect and treat locoregional recurrence. Personalized shape prostheses that can smartly sense tumor relapse and deliver therapeutics are needed.

Methods: We extracted data from the Global Burden of Disease Study in 2019 and assessed the mortality, age-standardized death rate (ASDR), population attributable fractions, and time trend in CRC attributable to risk factors by geography, socio-demographic index (SDI) quintile, age, and sex.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies, and at the initial visit, most patients are diagnosed with metastatic CRC (mCRC). However, immunotherapy is only and highly effective in a very small proportion of patients with mCRC having mismatch repair defect (dMMR)/high microsatellite instability, and the majority of the patients with mCRC having mismatch repair proficient (pMMR)/microsatellite stability (MSS) cannot benefit from it. At present, many clinical studies of immunotherapy combined with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are trying to regulate the immune microenvironment of pMMR/MSS mCRC, transforming a "cold tumor" into a "hot tumor," which has not only surprising effects but also certain limitations, i.

Chemotherapy and anti-angiogenesis therapy have been reported to potentially promote immunotherapy response. This study aims to assess the preliminary anti-tumor activity and safety of sintilimab plus bevacizumab, oxaliplatin and capecitabine as a treatment option for patients with RAS-mutant MSS mCRC.

The largest proportion of occupational-related cancers is tracheal, bronchus, and lung (TBL) cancer. This study aimed to explore the geographical and temporal trends in occupational carcinogens related to TBL cancer.

Despite the importance of MSI-H/dMMR status in clinical decision making, the testing rates for MSI and MMR in clinical practice remain low, even in high-risk populations. Additionally, the real-world prevalence of MSI-H/dMMR CRC may be lower than that reported in the literature.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related death. Although immunotherapy has been shown to improve survival in LUAD patients, only a select group of LUAD patients could benefit from it. The correlation between ferroptosis and the tumor immune environment requires further investigation in the setting of LUAD.

REV1 is a member of the translesion synthesis DNA polymerase Y family. It is an essential player in a variety of DNA replication activities, and perform major roles in the production of both spontaneous and DNA damage-induced mutations. This study aimed to explore the role of REV1 as a prognostic biomarker and its potential function regulating the sensitivity of anti-tumor drugs in various cancers.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImmune checkpoint blockade (ICB), particularly programmed death 1 (PD-1) and its ligand (PD-L1), has shown considerable clinical benefits in patients with various cancers. Many studies show that PD-L1 expression may be biomarkers to help select responders for anti-PD-1 treatment. Therefore, it is necessary to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that control PD-L1 expression.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether metabolic alterations were related to cell-of-origin subtypes of DLBCL and find some metabolites which are associated with the clinical outcomes.
Methods: Pre-treatment serum samples from eighty (80) newly diagnosed DLBCL patients, including twenty-eight (28) patients with Germinal Center B cell-like (GCB) subtypes and fifty-two (52) patients with non-GCB subtypes, were tested by the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) technique.
Both epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and cancer stem cells play important roles in development and progression of breast cancer. MicroRNA (miR)-30 family members have been reported to be associated with the regulation of EMT and stem cell phenotypes, however, the underlying molecular mechanisms are not well understood. miR-30a stable transfectants of breast cancer cell lines were created using a lentiviral system.

A total of 110 patients with refractory/relapsed classical Hodgkin lymphoma (n = 22) or non-Hodgkin lymphoma (n = 88) who received GDP or ICE salvage regimens from January 2011 to July 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. Of the 110 patients, 50 patients received GDP, and 60 patients received ICE.

Therefore, we postulated that expression patterns of multiple lncRNAs combined into a single signature could improve clinicopathological risk stratification and prediction of overall survival rate for breast cancer patients. Two algorithms, Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selector Operation (LASSO) and Support Vector Machine-Recursive Feature Elimination (SVM-RFE), were used to select candidate lncRNAs.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel cardiac-specific transgenic mouse model was generated to identify the physiological consequences of elongated thin filaments during post-natal development in the heart. Remarkably, increasing the expression levels in vivo of just one sarcomeric protein, Lmod2, results in ~10% longer thin filaments (up to 26% longer in some individual sarcomeres) that produce up to 50% less contractile force. Increasing the levels of Lmod2 in vivo (Lmod2-TG) also allows us to probe the contribution of Lmod2 in the progression of cardiac myopathy because Lmod2-TG mice present with a unique cardiomyopathy involving enlarged atrial and ventricular lumens, increased heart mass, disorganized myofibrils and eventually, heart failure.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in a number of biological process including inflammation response. However, whether lncRNAs participate in TGEV-induced inflammation in porcine intestinal epithelial cells (IPECs) is largely unknown.

TGEV infection provokes mitochondrial damage of porcine intestinal epthelial cell (IPEC), which is responsible for inflammation and cell death. In our previous study, we have demonstrated that circular RNA circEZH2 was down-regulated during TGEV infection and promoted the activation of nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) via targeting miR-22 in porcine intestinal epithelial cell line (IPEC-J2).

Based on analysis of differentially expressed RNAs between 150 triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) tissues and 823 non-triple-negative breast cancer (nTNBC) tissues downloaded from TCGA database, a ceRNA network was constructed based on database comparisons using Cytoscape. Survival analysis and receiver operating characteristic curve data were combined to screen out prognostic candidate genes, which were subsequently analyzed using co-expressed functionally related analysis, Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) pathway-related analysis, and immune infiltration and tumor mutational burden immune-related analysis.

The purpose of this study was to assess the prognostic value of iPET/CT in patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL according to visual and semiquantitative interpretation methods.
Methods: A total of 129 newly diagnosed DLBCL patients with baseline PET/CT data were retrospectively screened.
Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) is an aggressive subtype of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) that has a poor 5-year overall survival rate due to its lack of precise therapeutic targets. Identifying potential prognostic markers of AITL may provide information regarding the development of precision medicine. RNA sequence data from PTCL and patient clinic traits were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database.
