The study aimed to evaluate the static stability and durability of five manual adult wheelchairs commonly used in India, using ISO 7176-1 and ISO 7176-8 standards. The objective was to assess whether these wheelchairs meet minimum quality requirements and to identify cost-effective options for users in India, where wheelchair breakdowns and abandonment are significant issues. Five manual wheelchairs (WC1-WC5) were tested in a newly established ISO-compliant laboratory at Mobility India, Bangalore.

Wheelchair part failures and repairs have significantly increased over the last decade, leading to severe consequences for wheelchair users. Servicing these devices by wheelchair repair technicians has reduced part failures. However, no tools or technologies have been developed to support servicing in practice.

No tools or technologies exist to inform data-driven inspection schedules for wheelchairs. To develop such a schedule, this study identifies risk factors linked with manual wheelchair damage, part failures, and consequences and evaluates preferences for a new wheelchair servicing technology. A mixed methods study was performed with manual wheelchair users at The Ohio State University Martha Morehouse Clinic.

Lignin valorization faces persistent biomanufacturing challenges due to the heterogeneous and toxic carbon substrates derived from lignin depolymerization. To address the heterogeneous nature of aromatic feedstocks, plant cell wall engineering and 'lignin first' pretreatment methods have recently emerged. Next, to convert the resulting aromatic substrates into value-added chemicals, diverse microbial host systems also continue to be developed.

: This study evaluates the effect of power wheelchair telemonitoring and battery charging training on user charging behavior and repair measures and assesses the relationship between wheelchair usage and repair measures to support technician-led servicing.: This is a retrospective analysis of two matched cohorts with a total of =237 users from the NHS service dataset. In the training cohort, a wheelchair usage telemonitoring device monitored the battery usage of =119 power wheelchair users for 12 months.

Excellent outcomes of right ventricle to pulmonary artery conduits with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) valves have been reported. The purpose of this study was to analyze the short-term results of our handmade PTFE bicuspid valved conduit (VC) for right ventricular outflow tract reconstruction. Between September 2019 and May 2023, bicuspid PTFE-VC was implanted in 17 patients at a median age of 2.

Aim: To understand the epigenetic role of curcumin, a natural polyphenolic compound extracted from the spice Curcuma longa in inducing cytotoxicity in two molecularly distinct ovarian cancer cell lines: PA1 and A2780.

Materials And Methods: An integrated mRNA-miRNA sequence analysis was performed to determine the curcumin-induced mRNA-miRNA regulatory networks in the induction of cytotoxicity. The miRNA-mRNA pathways, the miRNAs and their targets implicated in apoptosis, autophagy, DNA damage, and stemness markers were validated.

Efficient co-utilization of mixed sugar feedstocks remains a biomanufacturing challenge, thus motivating ongoing efforts to engineer microbes for improved conversion of glucose-xylose mixtures. This study focuses on enhancing phenylalanine production by engineering Escherichia coli to efficiently co-utilize glucose and xylose. Flux balance analysis identified E4P flux as a bottleneck which could be alleviated by increasing the xylose-to-glucose flux ratio.

Purpose: To test the hypotheses that, after the delivery of manual wheelchairs following the WHO 8-step service-delivery process, wheelchair-related health and quality of life, wheelchair skills, wheelchair use, and poverty probability would improve; and that the number of wheelchair repairs required, adverse events, caregiver burden, and the level of assistance provided would decrease.

Methods: This was a longitudinal, prospective within-subject study including 247 manual wheelchair users, and 119 caregivers, in El Salvador who received a wheelchair following the WHO 8-step process as well as maintenance reminders. Outcome measurements were performed structured questionnaires and dataloggers at the initial assessment, at wheelchair delivery, and at 3- and 6-month follow-up.

Background: While Pegaspargase is an essential component of the treatment of acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL) in children, it causes adverse events (AEs) that sometimes make full use impossible.

Objective: The objective was to investigate the safety of Pegaspargase biosimilar in pediatric ALL patients undergoing treatment according to ICiCLe ALL-14 protocol.

Method And Materials: A prospective study was carried out in a university teaching hospital located in the state of Maharashtra, India.

Despite several treatment options for blood cancer, mortality remains high due to relapse and the disease's aggressive nature. Elevated levels of HSP90, a molecular chaperone essential for protein folding, are associated with poor prognosis in leukemia and lymphoma. HSP90 as a target for chemotherapy has been met with limited success due to toxicity and induction of heat shock.

Microbial production of esters has recently garnered wide attention, but the current production metrics are low. Evidently, the ester precursors (organic acids and alcohols) can be accumulated at higher titers by microbes like Escherichia coli. Hence, we hypothesized that their 'direct esterification' using esterases will be efficient.

In India, OVCa is women's third most common and lethal cancer type, accounting for 6.7% of observed cancer incidences. The contribution of somatic mutations, aberrant expression of gene and splice forms in determining the cell fate, gene networks, tumour-specific variants, and the role of immune fraction infiltration have been proven essential in understanding tumorigenesis.

Several incidences of nuclear smuggling during the past few decades have raised the demand for the development of a strong "on-site" nuclear forensic infrastructure. High-resolution γ-ray spectrometry (HRGRS) plays an important role in nuclear forensics. However, the existing methodologies, developed primarily for nuclear fuel cycle applications, are relative and rely on the availability of a standard, limiting their use for the absolute assay of special nuclear materials in nonstandard geometry samples with an unknown matrix, which is vital to make a quick "on-site" decision on the severity, potential radiological threat, and intended use of an interdicted package.

Introduction: Wheelchair caster bearings often suffer high-risk failures that lead to adverse consequences such as user injuries, suggesting that design improvements are necessary. This study aimed to compare thermoplastic bushings to standard roller bearings for potential improvements in durability and cost-effectiveness.

Methods: The durability and cost-effectiveness of two thermoplastic bushing models and two metallic ball-bearing models were tested using a standard lab-based accelerated wear testing protocol.

Breast cancer (BC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-associated death in women. Despite the progress in therapeutic regimen, resistance and recurrence of breast cancer have affected the overall survival of patients. The present signatures, such as PAM50 and Oncotype DX, do not segregate the Indian breast samples based on molecular subtypes.

Different surgical techniques have been described for the primary repair of anomalous left coronary artery arising from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA); however, very few techniques are described for management of coronary artery occlusion following ALCAPA repair. We present a case of a 7-year-old girl with left main coronary atresia status-post left coronary button transfer for ALCAPA in infancy. She underwent redo-sternotomy and left subclavian artery-to-left main coronary artery bypass plus mitral valve repair and had an uneventful postoperative course.
