Molecular Epidemiology and Phylogeny of Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) Virus of Ixodid Ticks in Khorasan Razavi Province of Iran.

Background: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a fatal disease caused by Nairovirus classified within the Bunyaviridae family. The virus is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected ticks or direct contact with viremic animals or humans. The current study aimed to detect the virus genome in ticks from Khorasan Razavi Province.

Enhancement of the Therapeutic Effect of Albendazole on Cystic Echinococcosis using a Herbal Product.

Purpose: Albendazole is the drug of choice for chemotherapy of cystic echinococcosis (CE) but 40% of patients do not respond to it satisfactorily. With regard to the previously reported scolicidal activity of Zataria multiflora, this study was done to evaluate the efficacy of the co-administration of albendazole and Z. multiflora aromatic water (AW) on hydatid cysts in a murine model.

In vitro and in vivo antihydatid activity of a nano emulsion of Zataria multiflora essential oil.

In in vitro process of this study, protoscoleces of the hydatid cysts were exposed to two concentrations of nano emulsion (NE) of Zataria multiflora essential oil (ZMEO) (1 and 2mg/mL) for 10 and 20min. Viability of protoscoleces was confirmed using 0.1% eosin staining.
