In the overall population, the incidence of breast cancer in men is lower than in women. Men's breast cancer awareness is affected both by the low incidence of breast cancer in men and by the presence of a perception that breast cancer can only be seen in women in society. This study aims to determine this awareness and guide future studies on improving social awareness.

Background: Acute cholecystitis (AC) is an acute inflammatory disease of gallbladder and it is one of the most common causes of acute abdominal pain. Determining the severity of AC at hospital admission is extremely important to choose the most effective treatment method and predict vital prognosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of immature granulocyte percentage (IG%) in grading AC severity.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of immature granulocyte count, immature granulocyte percentage, and total bilirubin value in predicting complicated and perforated appendicitis in patients aged 65 years and older with a diagnosis of appendicitis.

Methods: In this study, 84 patients, aged 65 years and older, who had appendectomy demographic information, preoperative white blood cell count, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, immature granulocyte count and immature granulocyte percentage, operation findings, and pathology results were collected retrospectively. They were grouped into 4 categories: complicated, non-complicated, perforated, and non-perforated, according to the data and surgical findings.

Article Synopsis
  • Red ginseng (Rg) has been traditionally used for medicinal purposes and this study investigates its effects on wound healing in diabetic rats through various application methods (local, systemic, and combined).
  • In the experiment, 60 rats were divided into four groups, and a wound was treated with Rg extracts over 14 days, showing improved wound contraction in all treated groups compared to the control.
  • The results indicated that while all Rg applications enhanced healing, the combined treatment showed the best outcomes with elevated VEGF levels and a more favorable immune response ratio.

Objective: Postoperative intraabdominal adhesions are obvious cause of postoperative morbidity. In this experimental study, our aim is to compare the effects of 4% icodextrin produced for adhesion prevention, magnesium sulfate used as an anticonvulsant in obstetrics and also as a thickening lubricant in the detergent industry, and saline, which we use most frequently in abdominal irrigation, on adhesion formation.

Materials And Methods: A total of 4 groups were formed, 8 in the control group (K), 8 in the icodextrin group (I), 8 in the magnesium sulfate group (M), and 8 in the saline group (SF).

"Special AT-rich sequence-binding protein-1" (SATB1) is a global genome organizer and is found to have effects on carcinogenesis and progression of various malignancies including colorectal carcinoma (CRC). We aimed to investigate the expression of SATB1 in CRC and colorectal adenomatous polyps (CAP), the correlation between clinicopathologic parameters, and overall survival. We examined 227 CRCs and 129 CAPs.
