Previous results have been mixed as to whether the emulsifying agent lecithin increases carotenoid bioaccessibility and Caco-2 cellular uptake. The dose-response effect of lecithin (0-5 mg) on carotenoid bioaccessibility and Caco-2 cellular uptake was investigated in vitro using a mixture of β-carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin. Resulting micelles were incubated with Caco-2 cells for 4 h.

Unlabelled: A total of 151 genotypes of durum and bread wheat exhibiting symptoms of stunting and bushy growth, leaf yellowing, and drying of clumps were recorded at ICAR-IARI Regional Station, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India from 2016 to 2018. The disease incidence was recorded more in durum wheat genotypes as compared to bread wheat genotypes. The presence of any virus, bacterial, and fungal pathogens was ruled out by applying cultural growth and electron microscopy.

The bioavailability of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is vital for skeletal muscle health, yet the mechanisms or signals regulating NAD homeostasis remain unclear. Here, we uncover a pathway connecting peripheral glucose sensing to the modulation of muscle NAD through TAS1R2, the sugar-sensing G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) initially identified in taste perception. Muscle TAS1R2 receptor stimulation by glucose and other agonists induces ERK1/2-dependent phosphorylation and activation of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase1 (PARP1), a major NAD consumer in skeletal muscle.

Extra-abdominal fibromatosis is an uncommon, benign locally aggressive fibrous soft-tissue tumor that usually occurs in the shoulders, chest wall, back, thigh, and head and neck affecting the young adult population. It is commonly located in the subcutaneous tissue and may infiltrate the adjacent skeletal muscles. We hereby report a rare case of a large extra-abdominal fibromatosis of the leg and foot in a 38-year-old woman.

The present experiment was conducted to study the diversity of fruit flies in Nagpur mandarin orchard from different agro-ecological zones of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, India. The fruit flies samples were collected from 18 places falling under 9 agro-ecological zone using methyl eugenol traps. Out of the total collected catches of fruit flies from each zones, Bactrocera dorsalis was found to be the most prominent species followed by Bactrocera zonata.

Article Synopsis
  • Non-invasive monitoring of atherosclerosis is difficult, but Pulse Wave Imaging (PWI) can measure local arterial stiffness and blood flow dynamics without invasive procedures.
  • This study aimed to determine PWI's effectiveness in tracking changes in local stiffness and blood flow in hypercholesterolemic swine over nine months, particularly after inducing hemodynamic disturbance by carotid ligation.
  • Results showed that PWI could effectively monitor changes in wall shear stress and differentiate between two types of plaque progression, revealing distinct compliance changes based on the severity of the ligation.

Vulnerable plaques associated with softer components may rupture, releasing thrombotic emboli to smaller vessels in the brain, thus causing an ischemic stroke. Pulse Wave Imaging (PWI) is an ultrasound-based method that allows for pulse wave visualization while the regional pulse wave velocity (PWV) is mapped along the arterial wall to infer the underlying wall compliance. One potential application of PWI is the non-invasive estimation of plaque's mechanical properties for investigating its vulnerability.

Muscle fitness and mass deteriorate under the conditions of obesity and aging for reasons yet to be fully elucidated. Herein, we describe a novel pathway linking peripheral nutrient sensing and skeletal muscle function through the sweet taste receptor TAS1R2 and the involvement of ERK2-PARP1-NAD signaling axis. Muscle-specific deletion of TAS1R2 (mKO) in mice produced elevated NAD levels due to suppressed PARP1 activity, improved mitochondrial function, increased muscle mass and strength, and prolonged running endurance.

The leafhopper species, Distant, is economically important due to itsstatus as a pest on bamboo and was recently reported to bea vector for phytoplasmal disease. Morphological identification is often difficult and requires a high level of taxonomic expertise, with misidentifications causing problematic false-positive/negative results. In this paper, colour polymorphism was recorded in the bamboo-feedingleafhopper (Distant, 1908), which is a major insect pest in the bamboo ecosystem based on explorations conducted in different locations of India.

A host association for Syncola crypsimorpha (Meyrick, 1922) is discovered after 100 years, since its original description. In India, two blastobasid species, Syncola crypsimorpha (Meyrick, 1922) and S. pulverea (Meyrick, 1907) (Lepidoptera: Gelechioidea), are predators of cultured lac, Kerria lacca (Kerr, 1782) (Hemiptera: Kerridae).

Article Synopsis
  • WSS (Wall Shear Stress) measurement is difficult due to the need for precise flow readings near vessel walls, prompting the development of a new ultrasound imaging technique that uses vector flow imaging and unsupervised data clustering for better estimation.
  • The technique was tested in various phantoms and simulations, yielding relative errors of 6.7% and 19.8% for peak and end diastolic WSS in normal conditions, while showing strong correlation in stenotic conditions (R values of 0.89 and 0.85).
  • In a study with atherosclerotic pigs, low WSS and high-frequency oscillations linked to atherogenic diets led to significant plaque development, and the technique revealed decreased

Insect fauna occupy the largest proportion of animal biodiversity on earth, but the assessment or quantification in terms of species diversity is far from complete. Several recent studies have demonstrated the rapid pace at which insect population decline is occurring. There is an urgent need to document and quantify the diversity of insect fauna for a proper understanding of terrestrial ecosystems.

Cardiac strain imaging (CSI) plays a critical role in the detection of myocardial motion abnormalities. Displacement estimation is an important processing step to ensure the accuracy and precision of derived strain tensors. In this paper, we propose and implement Spatiotemporal Bayesian regularization (STBR) algorithms for two-dimensional (2-D) normalized cross-correlation (NCC) based multi-level block matching along with incorporation into a Lagrangian cardiac strain estimation framework.
