The influence of varying light conditions of the state of pro- and antioxidative systems in rat kidneys has been studied. The lowest level of free radical oxidation of lipids and proteins and the highest activity of catalase and glutathione peroxidase in the rat kidneys was established in case of maximal duration of the light day. Under different light conditions the increase of malonic aldehyde and oxidatively modified proteins in the rat kidneys in case of tetrachloromethane intoxication was shown as compared with the control.

Experimental investigation on studying of pro- and antioxidant state in esophageal tissues was performed. It was established, that accumulation of products of the proteins and lipids oxidation during inflammatory process course coincides with significant lowering of the antioxidant enzymes activity. The data obtained trusts the various diagnostic significance of diienic conjugates and malonic dialdehyde (MDA) levels.

The pro- and antioxidant state of the liver and blood of rats under the effect of melatonin and radiation in the total dose of 20 Gy has been studied. Irradiation by the broad fields intensifies the processes of lipoperoxidation and oxidative modification of proteins with simultaneous inhibition of the antioxidant protection. Melatonin administered against a background of radiation caused a distinctly expressed antioxidant effect.

The effects of a single-shot intraperitoneally administration of melatonin in a dose of 1 mg per kg body weight and epithalamin in a dose of 2.5 mg per kg body weight on the activities of Na+, K(+)-ATPase and 5'-nucleotidase were investigated in the forebrain of juvenile male white rats under the acute hypobaric hypoxia. The melatonin and epithalamin administration against the background of acute hypoxia prevented an acute hypoxia inducing decrease in the activity of Na+, K(+)-ATPase as well as increased in the activity of 5'-nucleotidase.

The effect of acute hypobaric hypoxia against on the background of single-shot melatonin administration on the activity of glutathione ferments system (glutathione peroxidase, glutathione S-transferase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) and the contents of reduced glutathione and malondialdehyde in the supernatant of juvenile male of white rats forebrain was investigated under three conditions of lighting--natural conditions of lighting in the spring-summer period of year, constant illumination and constant darkness during the one week. The constant illumination enhanced the lipid peroxidation with simultaneous decreasing in the activity of glutathione peroxidase in control animals. The constant illumination enhanced the lipid peroxidation with simultaneous decrease in the activity of glutathione peroxidase in control animals.

Effects of tinctura arnica on arginase, adenosine triphosphatase, glucose-6-phosphatase and 5'-nucleotidase activities of rats liver in case of experimental toxic hepatitis have been studied. Toxic hepatitis was caused by 2 times interstomach administration of 0.25 ml oil solution of carbon tetrachloride per 100 g of animal weight.

The effect of acute hypoxic hypobaric hypoxia on the content of reduced glutathione and the activity of glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and glutathione S-transferase, as well as 5'-nucleotidase in homogenates of juvenile male rats under conditions of varying photoperiodic duration: natural conditions of illumination, continuous illumination and continuous darkness were studied. Photoperiodic changes were revealed in the glutathione system of the control animals: the activity of glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase reduces under constant light, while the activity of glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase increases under conditions of constant darkness. The greatest inhibitory effect on the state of the glutathione system is brought about by constant light in case of acute hypoxia: the content of reduced glutathione decreases along with a sharp drop of the activity of glutathione S-transferase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, observed against the background of decreased glutathione reductase activity.

Effects of Tinctura Arnica on lipids peroxidation and on the protective glutathions system of liver in rats in case of experimental toxic hepatitis have been studied. Toxic hepatitis is accompanied by deep alterations of the oxidant-antioxidant status of the body. Intoxication of the body by CCl4 results in intensification of the free radicals formation particularly in liver: accumulation of lipids peroxidation molecular products, glutathione system enzyme activity inhibition in early terms and its partial restoration in remote terms has been seen.

New high-protein vitamin product "Biostim" and bisquaternary ammonium compound etonium have been studied for their effect on the content of endogenic lipids (isolated binary bonds, diene conjugates, ketodienes and conjugated trienes) and reduced glutathione in the stomach and liver tissues under experimental duodenal ulcer with results presented. Maximal effect of "Biostim" on the intensity of the processes of free-radical oxidation in these tissue falls on the 14th day of the experiment, that of etonium on the 10th day, their simultaneous use--on the 6th day of the treatment. It is supposed that the combination of the above drugs takes most pronounced antioxidant effect owing to the fact that etonium activates the operation of glutathione cycle, promotes blocking of formation of free radicals and interacts with them.

Decrease in the frequency and degree of ulcer-like pain and dyspeptic syndromes, tendency toward transition to ulcer disease, increase in the frequency of concomitant disorders of digestive system, and of age-related background diseases, were revealed as a result of the examination of 118 patients with chronic primary gastroduodenitis. Lowered indices for the stomach acid formation, atrophy of gastroduodenal mucosa, general disturbances in bioenergetics occurred more often than not. Restriction in anthacides, use of agents capable of improving microcirculation, reparation, energy exchange, and phytotherapy, are the options recommended.

Parameters characterizing molecular products of blood lipid peroxidation in hepatitis A and B were studied. The method employed was shown to be a non-specific test for differential diagnosis and prognosis of the course of viral hepatitis A and B as well as for pathogenetic substantiation of correction in treating these conditions in an acute stage and in the period of convalescence.
