Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP) using a photocatalyst made from CoFeO@3D-TiO and graphene aerogel, achieving complete removal under specific conditions within 60 minutes while showing high reusability.
  • Intermediate products from the degradation process were found to be non-toxic to E. coli, and total organic carbon (TOC) analysis showed 86% mineralization of CIP, indicating successful transformation of non-biological sewage to biodegradable effluent.
  • The research emphasizes the effectiveness of photocatalysis over simple adsorption with a significantly faster reaction rate, showcasing the potential environmental benefits of using the synthesized photocatalyst under visible light.

Breast cancer is a complicated malignancy and is known as the most common cancer in women. Considerable experiments have been devoted to explore the basic impacts of the tumor stroma, particularly the extracellular matrix (ECM) and stromal components, on tumor growth and resistance to treatment. ECM is made up of an intricate system of proteins, glycosaminoglycans, and proteoglycans, and maintains structural support and controls key signaling pathways involved in breast tumors.

The rapid increase in global waste, driven by population growth, has raised significant environmental concerns. Among different types of wastes, green biowastes (BWs) containing organic matter have attracted considerable attention. The conversion of BW, particularly from herbaceous and animal sources, to carbon-based materials (CBMs) introduces a suitable platform for waste management and resource recovery.

Breast cancer, a leading cause of mortality among women, has been recognized as requiring improved diagnostic methods. Exosome proteins, found in small extracellular vesicles, have emerged as a promising solution, reflecting the state of their cell of origin and playing key roles in cancer progression. This review examines their potential in breast cancer diagnosis, discussing advanced isolation and characterization techniques such as ultracentrifugation and microfluidic-based approaches.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) continues to pose a global health concern, necessitating the exploration of innovative therapeutic approaches. In the recent decade, targeting tumor stroma consisting of extracellular matrix (ECM), immune cells, vascular system, hypoxia, and also suppressive mechanisms in HCC has attracted interest in repressing tumor growth and metastasis. Phytochemicals have attained considerable attention because of their manifold biological effects and high capacity for anticancer activities.

Improving the crystallinity of formamidinium triiodide (FAPbI) perovskite layer is one of the most effective approaches to increase the photovoltaic performance and stability of FAPbI-based solar cells (FSCs). In the current study, FAPbI layers were fabricated through a sequential deposition method. The morphology and crystalline properties of the FAPbI layers were modified by controlling the lead iodide (PbI) precursor by adding pyrrolidinium (Pyr) material into the PbI layer and modulating the FAPbI crystallization.

Context: Phographene and its family member structures are of the newly proposed semiconductors for detection of chemicals. That is, in this project, the potential of using α-phographene (α-POG) both for adsorption and detection of five types of the most important air pollutant gases containing SO, AsH, CFH, NO, and CO species were investigated.  The results of the time dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations indicate that during the adsorption of NO, and SO by the sorbent, big redshifts occur (up to 866.

Lung cancer is still a global health challenge in terms of high incidence, morbidity, and mortality. Recent scientific studies have determined that pyroptosis, a highly inflammatory form of programmed cell death, can be identified as a potential lung cancer therapeutic target. The NLRP3 inflammasome acts as a critical mediator in this process and, upon activation, activates multiprotein complex formation as well as caspase-1 activation.
