Objective: Before commonly used targets such as the Retrogasserian Zone (RGZ) and the Root Entry Zone (REZ) were adopted for the radiosurgical treatment of trigeminal neuralgia (TN), a more anterior target involving the Gasserian ganglion was used. Thanks to advancements in imaging technology, it is now possible to identify and target separate nerve divisions in Meckel's Cave as desired. Although this approach has been mentioned previously, no clinical study has investigated it until now.

Transposable elements (TEs) are abundant in the human genome, and they provide the sources for genetic and functional diversity. The regulation of TEs expression and their functional consequences in physiological conditions and cancer development remain to be fully elucidated. Previous studies suggested TEs are repressed by DNA methylation and chromatin modifications.

Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) is a sophisticated natural language model that employs advanced deep learning techniques and is trained on extensive datasets to produce responses akin to human conversation for user inputs. In this study, ChatGPT's success in the Turkish Neurosurgical Society Proficiency Board Exams (TNSPBE) is compared to the actual candidates who took the exam, along with identifying the types of questions it answered incorrectly, assessing the quality of its responses, and evaluating its performance based on the difficulty level of the questions. Scores of all 260 candidates were recalculated according to the exams they took and included questions in those exams for ranking purposes of this study.

With the advances in radiation technology, skin reaction due to postoperative radiotherapy (RT) in breast cancer patients is generally mild and tolerable. However, certain drugs may increase the radiation effect. In literature, only few cases of adverse reactions in the radiation field have been reported with the use of Chloroquine.

Article Synopsis
  • * Research using genetically modified mice showed that the absence of SETD2 significantly accelerates lung tumor formation driven by the KrasG12D mutation, leading to increased tumor growth and reduced survival rates.
  • * The study suggests that loss of SETD2 activates certain enhancers, promoting oncogenic gene expression and making KRAS-mutant lung cancers more vulnerable to specific treatments targeting histone chaperones and transcription processes.

Immune cells responding to pathogens undergo molecular changes that are intimately linked to genome organization. Recent work has demonstrated that natural killer (NK) and CD8 T cells experience substantial transcriptomic and epigenetic rewiring during their differentiation from naïve to effector to memory cells. Whether these molecular adaptations are accompanied by changes in three-dimensional (3D) chromatin architecture is unknown.

Objective: To investigate the contribution of Gallium (Ga)-PSMA (prostate-specific membrane antigen) positron emission tomography (PET) in defining radiotherapy (RT) target volume for glioblastoma and to compare the target volumes defined by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

Methods: RT planning Computed Tomography (CT) images were fused separately with pre-operative MRI and PET/MRI images of 10 glioblastoma patients, retrospectively. The contrast-enhanced area in weighted MRI was contoured as gross tumor volume (GTV) and clinical target volume (CTV1) was obtained by including the cavity and T2/FLAIR hyperintense areas after giving a margin of 2 cm to the GTV.

Linking distal enhancers to genes and modeling their impact on target gene expression are longstanding unresolved problems in regulatory genomics and critical for interpreting noncoding genetic variation. Here, we present a new deep learning approach called GraphReg that exploits 3D interactions from chromosome conformation capture assays to predict gene expression from 1D epigenomic data or genomic DNA sequence. By using graph attention networks to exploit the connectivity of distal elements up to 2 Mb away in the genome, GraphReg more faithfully models gene regulation and more accurately predicts gene expression levels than the state-of-the-art deep learning methods for this task.
