Objective: To describe the prevalence and consequences of incidental findings when implementing routine noncontrast CT prior to cardiac surgery.
Methods: In the multicenter randomized controlled CRICKET study, 862 adult patients scheduled for cardiac surgery were randomized 1:1 to undergo standard of care (SoC), which included a chest-radiograph, or an additional preoperative noncontrast chest CT-scan (SoC+CT). In this subanalysis, all incidental findings detected on the chest radiograph and CT-scan were analyzed.
Human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived endothelial cells can be candidates for engineering therapeutic vascular grafts. Here, we studied the role of three-dimensional culture on their characteristics and function both and . We found that differentiated hPSC-EC can re-populate decellularized biomatrices; they remain viable, undergo maturation and arterial/venous specification.

Nevertheless, not all organs are utilized due to the limited time window for heart transplantation (HTX). Therefore, we aimed to evaluate whether an iron-chelator-supplemented Bretschneider solution could protect the graft in a clinically relevant canine model of HTX with prolonged ischemic storage.

Background: We lack data on the effect of single premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) on the clinical and echocardiographic response after cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) device implantation. We aimed to assess the predictive value of PVCs at early, 1 month-follow up on echocardiographic response and all-cause mortality.
Methods: In our prospective, single-center study, 125 heart failure patients underwent CRT implantation based on the current guidelines.
Background: While patients with cardiac transthyretin amyloidosis are easily diagnosed with bone scintigraphy, the detection of cardiac light chain (AL) amyloidosis is challenging. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) analyses play an essential role in the differential diagnosis of cardiomyopathies; however, limited data are available from cardiac AL-Amyloidosis. Hence, the purpose of the present study was to analyze the potential role of CMR in the detection of cardiac AL-amyloidosis.

Currently, application of adequate, patent hemostasis based physical torniquets are used for puncture site control, to avoid bleeding, radial artery occlusion and damage (RAO and RAD). The Radial Artery Puncture Hemostasis Evaluation (RAPHE) is a prospective, randomized, multicenter clinical trial designed to investigate new, simplified techniques of radial artery hemostasis utilizing physical compression free methods.

We aimed at describing the anatomical differences in coronary angiography between symptomatic and non-symptomatic LAD myocardial bridges and to investigate the influence of clinical and morphological factors on long-term mortality. In our retrospective, long-term, single center study we found relevant MB on the left anterior descendent (LAD) coronary artery in 146 cases during a two-year period, when 11,385 patients underwent coronary angiography due to angina pectoris.

Its safety and feasibility in chronic total occlusion (CTO) PCI have not been thoroughly explored, although the role of DRA could be even more valuable in these procedures.
Methods: From 2016 to 2021, all patients who underwent CTO PCI in 3 Hungarian centers were included, divided into 2 groups: one receiving proximal radial access (PRA) and another DRA.
Objectives: The authors' aim was to examine the preoperative hormone and nutritional status in patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery.
Design And Settings: The authors' research was a single-center, prospective, observational study (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03736499).
Aim: To compare global and axial right ventricular ejection fraction in ventilated patients for moderate-to-severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) secondary to early SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia or to other causes, and in ventilated patients without ARDS used as reference.
Methods: Retrospective single-center cross-sectional study including 64 ventilated patients: 21 with ARDS related to SARS-CoV-2 (group 1), 22 with ARDS unrelated to SARS-CoV-2 (group 2), and 21 without ARDS (control group). Real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography was performed for hemodynamic assessment within 24 h after admission.
Aims: Inflammatory pathways are increasingly recognized as an important factor in the pathophysiology of both heart failure (HF) and atrial fibrillation (AF). However, there is no data about inflammation-related histological and molecular alterations in HF-associated AF. The objective of our study was to investigate inflammatory pathways and fibrosis in end-stage HF-associated AF.

Methods And Results: In the MASTER DAPT trial, 3383 patients underwent non-complex (abbreviated DAPT, n = 1707; standard DAPT, n = 1676) and 1196 complex (abbreviated DAPT, n = 588; standard DAPT, n = 608) PCI. Co-primary outcomes at 335 days were net adverse clinical events [NACE; composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, stroke, and bleeding academic research consortium (BARC) 3 or 5 bleeding events]; major adverse cardiac or cerebral events (MACCE; all-cause death, myocardial infarction, and stroke); and Types 2, 3, or 5 BARC bleeding.
Objective: The effects of COVID-19, especially long-COVID, on the psychological health is incompletely understood. We aimed to evaluate the mid-term associations of the long-COVID symptoms and affective factors in a cohort of non-hospitalized patients.
Method: A total of 166 patients were enrolled in this study, including 119 sedentary/non-athlete and 47 athlete subjects at the Post-COVID Outpatient Clinic of Semmelweis University.
Comparative data are virtually missing about the performance of different electro-anatomical mapping (EAM) system platforms on outflow tract (OT) premature ventricular complex (PVC) ablation outcomes with manual ablation catheters. We aimed to compare the acute success-, complication-, and long-term recurrence rates of impedance-based (IMP) and magnetic field-based (MAG) EAM platforms in manual OT PVC ablation. Single-centre, propensity score matched data of 39-39 patients ablated for OT PVCs in 2015-17 with IMP or MAG platforms were analysed.
