Background: Increased sensitivity to internal and external stimuli, known as sensory-processing sensitivity (SPS), has been linked to attachment insecurity and less optimal parenting styles in parents of children aged 4-13 years. Associations between these parenting factors in parents of children aged 3 years and younger have not yet been investigated. Understanding the relationships between these factors will facilitate the development of strategies to better support highly sensitive parents.

Methods: A longitudinal patient analysis was conducted in four organizations in England using routine data from 213 910 admissions to all surgical specialties.
Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have great potential to drive low-power consumption electronic devices under indoor light due to their highly tunable optoelectronic properties. Thick devices (>300 nm photo-active junctions) are desirable to maximize photocurrent and to manufacture large-scale modules via solution-processing. However, thick devices usually suffer from severe charge recombination, deteriorating device performances.

To date, there has been little research in Australia that has focused on First Nations families' feeding practices and mealtimes. This co-designed study aimed to explore First Nations' families feeding practices through yarning circles with workers (n = 14) at an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organization.

Objective: The aim of this scoping review is to address the identified need to ascertain what is known about the perspectives of employees with YOD.
Nanometer exciton diffusion is a fundamental process important in virtually all applications of organic semiconductors. Many measurement techniques have been developed to measure exciton diffusion length () at the nanometer scale; however, these techniques have common challenges that the community has worked for decades to overcome. In this perspective, we lay out the principal challenges researchers need to overcome to obtain an accurate measurement of .

There are considerable areas of uncertainty, including whether temporary staff can safely make up shortfalls in permanent staff and whether using experienced staff can mitigate the effect of staff shortages.
Objective: To explore the association of the composition of the nursing team with the risk of patient deaths.
Background: Physical inactivity is recognized as a global health challenge. Attachment theory may provide insight into individual physical activity (PA) patterns, informing the development of PA interventions to promote the maintenance of behavior change. This study investigated the associations between attachment orientation and why and how individuals engage in PA.

The carrier density-dependence of the rate of recombination and the associated rate coefficients are often estimated using transient charge extraction (CE) experiments. These experiments, however, often neglect the effect of recombination during the transient extraction process.

There are many contributing factors to readmission, and some are thought to be preventable. Nurse and midwife understaffing has been linked to deficits in care quality.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Independent inquiries have identified that appropriate staffing in maternity units is key to enabling quality care and minimising harm, but optimal staffing levels can be difficult to achieve when there is a shortage of midwives. The services provided and how they are staffed (total staffing, skill-mix and deployment) have been changing, and the effects of workforce changes on care quality and outcomes have not been assessed. This study aims to explore the association between daily midwifery staffing levels and the rate of reported harmful incidents affecting mothers and babies.

Evidence of the effectiveness of Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC) for caregivers of children suggests it may represent a useful occupation-focused intervention for parents of picky eaters. Using an OPC-targeted intervention, this study aims to report preliminary effectiveness, explore the experience of parents' participation, and investigate factors that influence the OPC intervention.

Introduction: Periocular cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) accounts for 5-10% of all eyelid malignancies. Periocular cSCC carries a low mortality rate but can be destructive to local tissues. Due to the unique function and anatomy of the eyelids, Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is gold standard for treating cSCC to preserve healthy tissue and reduce rates of local recurrence.

Methods: An exploratory cross-sectional study with purpose-designed survey was completed online or via mail. The survey was comprised of demographic and health-related questions and multiple questionnaires, including the Stroke Impact Scale Version 3.
Background: Patients with an intestinal emergency who do not have surgery are poorly characterised. This study used electronic healthcare records to provide a rapid insight into the number of patients admitted with an intestinal emergency and compare short-term outcomes for non-operative and operative management.
Methods: A single-centre retrospective cohort study was conducted at a tertiary NHS hospital (from 1 December 2013 to 31 January 2020).
Background: Extensive research shows associations between increased nurse staffing levels, skill mix and patient outcomes. However, showing that improved staffing levels are linked to improved outcomes is not sufficient to provide a case for increasing them. This review of economic studies in acute hospitals aims to identify costs and consequences associated with different nurse staffing configurations in hospitals.

Limited qualitative studies have explored parents' experiences of parenting an extremely picky eater. This study aimed to address this gap.

This multi-staged study involved qualitative interviews ( = 7) with mental health care staff in an acute psychiatric ward to identify the local factors influencing use of sensory approaches, and co-design implementation strategies with key stakeholders to improve their use. Using framework analysis, results revealed that the use of sensory approaches were hindered by: inadequate access to sensory resources/equipment; lack of time; lack of staff knowledge; and belief that sensory approaches are not effective or part of staff's role.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground/aim: Although sensory approaches are recommended to relieve distress and agitation and reduce the use of seclusion and restraint, many Australian psychiatric units have struggled to sustain their practice. The aim of this study was to investigate the barriers and enablers influencing the use of different sensory approaches across one health region in Australia and to obtain recommendations for strategies to improve their use.
Method: This cross-sectional survey was informed by the Theoretical Domain Framework.
Background/aim: Childhood picky eating occurs when there is limited intake or variety of food and/or unwillingness to try new foods. Within research settings, standardised assessments are used to describe picky eating behaviours in children. However, little is known about assessment practices of occupational therapists.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOrganic semiconductors have found a broad range of application in areas such as light emission, photovoltaics, and optoelectronics. The active components in such devices are based on molecular and polymeric organic semiconductors, where the density of states is generally determined by the disordered nature of the molecular solid rather than energy bands. Inevitably, there exist states within the energy gap which may include tail states, deep traps caused by unavoidable impurities and defects, as well as intermolecular states due to (radiative) charge transfer states.
