By combining Er and Yb ions with 3,6-dithiophene-anilate (ThAn) and scorpionate hydrotris(pyrazol-1-yl)borate (HBpz) ligands new luminescent dinuclear complexes are obtained. The two materials formulated as [((HB(pz))Yb)(μ-thAn)]·4DCM·1.3HO and [((HB(pz))Er)(μ-thAn)]·4DCM·1.

The single-crystal X-ray structure, formulated as [Dy(TTF-TC)(HO)]·21HO (1), reveals a complex 2D topology, with hexanuclear Dy clusters as secondary building units (SBUs) interconnected by five linkers, stacked almost parallel in each layer and eclipsed along the [111] direction, leading to the formation of 1D channels filled by water molecules. The mixed valence of the TTF units is confirmed by both bond distance analysis, Raman microscopy and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and further supported by band structure calculations, which also predict activated conductivity for this material.

Microfluidic devices offer an attractive approach enabling rapid monitoring of hundreds of cells during their entire replicative lifespan (RLS). Yet, key operational issues such as contaminations, cell loss, and cell-aggregates-dependent flow obstruction can hinder RLS experiments.

The mode-of-action consists in removal of disease-causing amyloid accumulations by activating phagocytic immune cells, a mechanism without precedent in cardiology. To select a safe and potentially efficacious dose range and treatment duration for a combined first-in-human and proof-of-concept clinical phase Ib study, we developed a mechanistic pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) model that can predict NI006 exposure, its effects on cardiac amyloid load and on LWVT, which is a predictor of heart failure in this disease.

Contemporary research practices in clinical medicine often regards contextual factors as potential confounders that will bias effect estimates and thus must be avoided. However rigorous, research devoid of context ultimately deprives users of understanding of the support factors that make research transferable to policy decisions or managing care of individual patients-it stands in the way of 'doing the right thing' in 'real life' settings.

We demonstrated it by using a single-input single-output (SISO) frequencymodulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar which integrates two frequency-scanning antennas (FSAs). This method is capable of isolating the Doppler signal generated by each single subject from the contributions of all the reflections in the monitored environment.

By reacting a 3,6-ditriazolyl-2,5-dihydroxybenzoquinone (HtrzAn) anilato linker with Ln ions (Ln = Dy, Tb, Ho), two different series of polymorphs, formulated as [Ln(trzAn)(HO)] ·10HO (Dy, 1a; Tb, 2a, Ho, 3a) and [Ln(trzAn)(HO)] ·7HO (Dy, 1b, Tb, 2b, Ho, 3b) have been obtained. In these series the two Dy-coordination networks (1a and 1b) and the Tb-coordination polymer (2b) show a Single Ion Magnet (SIM) behavior. 1-3a MOFs show reversible structural flexibility upon removal of a coordinated water molecule from a distorted hexagonal 2D framework to a distorted 3,6-brickwall rectangular 3D structure in [Ln(trzAn)(HO)] ·2HO (Dy, 1a_des; Tb, 2a_des, Ho, 3a_des) involving shrinkage/expansion of the hexagonal-rectangular networks.

Rapid intervention is key to reducing mortality and morbidity. Activation of the cardiac catheterization laboratory may occur through verbal communication and may also involve the secure sharing of electrocardiographic images between frontline health care providers and interventional cardiologists.

The objectives of this study were to estimate the prevalence of cervical spine injury and identify factors associated with cervical spine injuries in adults ≥ 65 years after low-level falls.

These structurally isomorphous species contain octacoordinated Ln ions with coordination polyhedra approaching an ideal symmetry, best described by a distorted biaugmented trigonal prismatic geometry. In the whole series, only the Dy-MOF exhibits SMM behaviour.

Many important questions in health professions education require datasets that are built from several sources, in some cases using data collected for a different purpose. In building and maintaining these datasets, project leaders will need to make decisions about the data. While such decisions are often construed as technical, there are several normative concerns, such as who should have access, how the data will be used, how products resulting from the data will be shared, and how to ensure privacy of the individuals the data is about is respected, etc.

We sought to compare edoxaban versus warfarin using the win ratio, which offers data complementary to time-to-first event analysis, emphasizing the most severe clinical events.
Methods: ENGAGE AF-TIMI 48 (Effective Anticoagulation With Factor Xa Next Generation in Atrial Fibrillation-Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction 48) was a double-blind, randomized trial in which patients with atrial fibrillation were assigned 1:1:1 to a higher dose edoxaban regimen (60/30 mg daily), a lower dose edoxaban regimen (30/15 mg daily), or warfarin.
Although several countries have adopted a single-dose human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination strategy, many other countries continue to include multiple doses in their vaccination programmes. There are ethical reasons to transition to a single-dose strategy. We discuss how a single-dose HPV vaccination strategy advances equity in three dimensions: vaccine equity, health equity, and gender equity.

Both complexes show field-induced single molecule magnet (SMM) behaviour, with tuning of the slow magnetic relaxation as a function of the nature of the substituents at the 3,6-positions of the anilate moiety.

WB meat showed a lower amount of lipid content compared to pork and a higher antioxidant activity compared to PI and PO. The comparison of the fatty acid composition of WB and domestic pig reveals significant differences in saturated fatty acids (SFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), with WB having the highest PUFA level and the lowest SFA level.

Using near-infrared (NIR) emitting Nd:Yb mixed-metal coordination polymers (CPs), synthesized via solvent-free thermal grinding, we demonstrate that the Nd [H → I] → Yb [F → F] pathway, previously overlooked, dominates energy transfer due to superior energy resonance and -level selection rule compatibility. This finding upends the conventional focus on the Nd [F → I] → Yb [F → F] transition pathway.

The aim of this study was to report Canadian emergency physician burnout rates compared with the same physicians in 2020 and to describe how emergency medicine work has affected emergency physician well-being.
Methods: This longitudinal study on Canadian emergency physician wellness enrolled participants in April 2020.
Background: Ground-level falls are common among older adults and are the most frequent cause of traumatic intracranial bleeding. The aim of this study was to derive a clinical decision rule that safely excludes clinically important intracranial bleeding in older adults who present to the emergency department after a fall, without the need for a computed tomography (CT) scan of the head.
Methods: This prospective cohort study in 11 emergency departments in Canada and the United States enrolled patients aged 65 years or older who presented after falling from standing on level ground, off a chair or toilet seat, or out of bed.
Addressing global health crises requires a receptive and expedient policy environment to minimise delays in making available potentially life-saving technologies. Over time, the policy environment has adapted to ensure that communities have expedited access to promising technologies, such as vaccines, that can mitigate morbidity and mortality. Emergency authorisations are one such policy mechanism.

Radars are good candidates, since they are able to remotely monitor people without raising privacy concerns. However, radar systems are typically based on complex architectures involving multiple channels and antennas, such as multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) or electronic beam scanning, resulting also in a high power consumption.
