This study aimed to establish factors associated with delayed surgery in patients with proximal femoral fracture and to assess patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after surgery including all-cause 6-months mortality. This was a single-center, observational, prospective cohort study that included patients with a proximal femur fracture. We described patients' HRQoL measured by EuroQoL (EQ-5D-5L and EQ-VAS) questionnaire and perioperative complications (including mortality) 6 months after surgery.

It can be triggered by different factors, including viruses, such as dengue. The objective of this study was to characterize the clinical and laboratory profiles of children with severe dengue and HLH, and to identify the risk factors for this clinical complication.

Methods: Multicentre, open-label, randomized, parallel clinical trial.
Background: Different types of interventions have been assessed for the prevention of adverse events. However, determining which patient-safety practice is most effective can be challenging when there is no systematised evidence synthesis. An overview following the best methodological standards can provide the best reliable integrative evidence.

Methods: We conducted a multicentre randomised open-label parallel clinical trial.
Hemostasis is crucial for reducing bleeding during surgical procedures. The points-of-care based on the platelet function test could be useful to minimize the complications related to chronic antiplatelet therapy during surgery. The present study is aimed at comparing two point-of-care platelet function devices-Platelet Function Analyzer PFA-100 (Siemens Canada, Mississauga, ON, Canada) and Plateletworks(Helena Laboratories, Beaumont, TX, USA).

Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are systematically created documents that summarise knowledge and assist the delivery of high-quality medical care by identifying evidence that supports best clinical care.
Objective: Using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research & Evaluation II instrument, we aimed to evaluate the methodological rigour and transparency of unanticipated difficult airway management CPGs in adults.
Introduction: Patients with femur fracture benefit from early surgery. Recent reports suggest that regional anesthesia may be superior to general anesthesia in these patients. Early surgery under spinal anesthesia could be performed safely by determining platelet function in patients receiving antiplatelet agents.

Methods: We conducted a systematic search to identify CPGs that provided recommendations on treatments for oral cancer.
Background: There is paucity in the level of knowledge on the actual insurer expenses associated with patients suffering with dementia in the developing world. Less is known about direct costs by severity and how costs vary because of the presence of other comorbidities.
Methods: Using claims data from an insurer for three years, we identified patients with AD with an algorithm that takes advantage of information on age, primary diagnosis, and services and drugs provided.
Objective: To determine the independent contribution of prognostic factors to length of hospital stay of minor and moderate burn victims at the Hospital Universitario San José (HUSJ), Popayán, Colombia, 2000-2010.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of minor and moderate burn victims admitted between 2000 and 2010, at the burn unit (HUSJ). This is a further analysis of a same cohort previously published in Burns.
Objectives: To describe the epidemiological profile of minor and moderate burn victims at the University Hospital San José, Popayán, Colombia, 2000-2010.
Methods: This study was retrospective description of minor and moderate burn victims admitted between 2000 and 2010 at the Burn Unit of University Hospital San José (UHSJ). The following variables were recorded and analyzed: age, gender, origin, social security, depth and extent of burn, days of hospitalization, causal agent and mortality.
