The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a substantial threat to people's lives and raised health concerns. This research explores the mediating role of consumers' attitudes towards health claims in the relationship between consumers' interest in health claims and their willingness to pay (WTP) for health claims in extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). Additionally, we examine the moderation effect of COVID-19 risk perception in the relationship between consumers' interest in and attitudes towards health claims.

Epidemiology of Fabry disease in patients in hemodialysis in the Madrid community.

Unlabelled: This study screened for Fabry disease (FD) in patients in hemodialysis (HD) in the region of Madrid (CAM) with a cross-sectional design to evaluate HD-prevalent patients, followed by a three-year period prospective design to analyze HD-incident patients.

Inclusion Criteria: patients older than 18 years on HD in the CAM, excluding patients diagnosed with any other hereditary disease with renal involvement different from FD, that sign the Informed Consent (IC).

Food neophobia, life satisfaction and family eating habits in university students.

The aim of this study was to categorize university students based on their association between food neophobia and levels of subjective well-being, in general and in the food domain, and their perception of their family's eating habits. A survey was conducted among 372 university students from southern Chile. The questionnaire included the Food Neophobia Scale (FNS), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), Satisfaction with Food-related Life (SWFL), Health-related Quality of Life Index (HRQOL-4), and Family Eating Habits Questionnaire (FEHQ).

Analysis of personal and cultural values as key determinants of novel food acceptance. Application to an ethnic product.

This paper sets out to analyse whether the complexity and the type of benefits and values pursued in the consumer choice process for a novel food product (couscous) varies with the consumer's ethnic origin (Spanish and Arab). A qualitative study was used to explore these issues in an application of the "means-end chain" theory. The hierarchical value maps obtained point to the presence of an important emotional dimension in the consumption of the selected product, particularly Arab consumers, suggesting that greater familiarity with the product results in a more complex choice process.

Deciphering archaeal glycolipids of an extremely halophilic archaeon of the genus Halobellus by MALDI-TOF/MS.

Polar membrane lipids of an archaeal microorganism recently isolated from the natural salt lake Fuente de Piedra (Málaga, Spain) have been studied by means of TLC in combination with MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. The major phospholipids are the ether lipids phosphatidylglycerophosphate methyl ester and phosphatidylglycerosulfate, while phosphatidylglycerol is barely detectable; in addition the bisphosphatidylglycerol (archaeal cardiolipin) has been detected for the first time in a representative of the genus Halobellus. The structures of glycolipids, including a glycosyl-cardiolipin, have been elucidated by post source decay (PSD) mass spectrometry analysis.

Frailty prevalence and slow walking speed in persons age 65 and older: implications for primary care.

Background: Frailty in the elderly increases their vulnerability and leads to a greater risk of adverse events. According to various studies, the prevalence of the frailty syndrome in persons age 65 and over ranges between 3% and 37%, depending on age and sex. Walking speed in itself is considered a simple indicator of health status and of survival in older persons.

Theory of Planned Behavior and the Value-Belief-Norm Theory explaining willingness to pay for a suburban park.

This paper analyses whether the environmental profile of park visitors as defined by the components of the Theory of Planned Behavior and the Value-Belief-Norm Theory, determines their willingness to pay for park conservation. The sample consists of 194 visitors to a suburban Spanish park. Under these theories, it is shown that positive attitudes, a strong orientation towards biospheric and altruistic values with strong pro-environmental and normative beliefs determine the visitors' willingness to pay.

The role of satisfaction and emotional response in the choice mechanisms of suburban natural-areas users.

The unique observations and experiences of users of suburban natural areas lead them to perceive their surroundings in a manner associated with their personal values. It follows that every individual has a unique cognitive decision-making structure. This paper examines users' affective and cognitive evaluation of a particular suburban natural area by applying the means-end chain method to reveal the cognitive mechanism by which users link the attributes and benefits of an environmental public good with their own personal values.
