Uptake of Immediate Postpartum LARCs and Associated Factors among Mothers Who Gave Birth at Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Hawassa, Ethiopia.

Background: Postpartum family planning is an effective strategy for reducing maternal and childhood morbidity and mortality by preventing unintended pregnancy and short interpregnancy intervals. Despite the paramount advantages of long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC), their uptake remains low in Ethiopia. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the uptake of immediate postpartum LARC methods and its associated factors among women who gave birth in Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Hawassa city, Southern Ethiopia.

Magnitude of Severe Acute Maternal Morbidity and Associated Factors Related to Abortion: A Cross-Sectional Study in Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Ethiopia, 2019.

Background: Abortion-related mortality is decreasing, but the complication is still causing a significant morbidity to mothers especially in developing countries. Recently, suitable criteria to assess maternal near miss for sub-Saharan countries were adapted in harmony with the previous World Health Organization near-miss criteria. The aim of this study was to assess the magnitude of severe acute maternal morbidity and associated factors related to abortion in Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Ethiopia.

Postpartum left ovarian vein thrombosis.

Left ovarian vein thrombosis is a very rare and infrequent thrombotic condition that mainly occurs in the postpartum or postoperative period. We report a case of a 25-year-old para-1 woman who presented with 2 weeks of postpartum fever and dull aching abdominal pain more on the left side. Before operation, the diagnosis was left adnexal mass secondary to questionable ovarian cyst torsion and she underwent laparotomy.

Surgical informed consent in obstetric and gynecologic surgeries: experience from a comprehensive teaching hospital in Southern Ethiopia.

Background: Surgical Informed Consent (SIC) has long been recognized as an important component of modern medicine. The ultimate goals of SIC are to improve clients' understanding of the intended procedure, increase client satisfaction, maintain trust between clients and health providers, and ultimately minimize litigation issues related to surgical procedures. The purpose of the current study is to assess the comprehensiveness of the SIC process for women undergoing obstetric and gynecologic surgeries.
