Background: Fulminant myocarditis (FM) is a potentially lethal disease with a wide spectrum of clinical presentation, thus making the diagnosis hard to depict. In cases where acute circulatory failure occurs venoarterial (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support is a valid management strategy, especially in the pediatric and adult patients. This study aims to report the results of VA ECMO for FM in our Institution.

In the present study, the PU nanoparticles (PU-NPs) were prepared using solvent-diffusion-evaporation method and optimized using Box-Behnken design (BBD), a response surface methodology for obtaining the optimal material ratio of PU-NPs. Further, PU and PU-NPs were evaluated to assess their cytotoxic effect and in vitro efficiency of inflammatory responses using lipopolysaccharide-sensitive macrophage cell line (RAW264.

Objective: Many psychotropic drugs are highly associated with related weight gain. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are established anti-obesity and glucose-lowering agents. Preliminary evidence also indicates they are fit for purpose in mitigating psychotropic drug-related weight gain (PDWG).

Objectives: Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and alcoholism are considered to be lifestyle-associated independent risk factors in fatty liver diseases (FLD) mediated cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). A combined effect of both these conditions may exacerbate the pathological changes and a pre-clinical exploration of this is expected to provide a mechanical detail of the pathophysiology. The present study aims to understand the effect of alcohol on pre- diabetic and type 2 diabetic female Wistar rats.

The microbiology, epidemiology, and treatment of this disease have changed considerably in the last two decades. Staphylococci and streptococci are known to be the classical causative agents; however, blood culture-negative endocarditis caused by fastidious and slow-growing organisms is now common.

This review aims to synthesize existing literature to clarify the relationship between SDB and HF, focusing on the pathophysiological mechanisms, diagnostic challenges, and the effectiveness of treatment modalities like continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and adaptive servo-ventilation ASV. We analyzed peer-reviewed articles from 2003 to 2024 sourced from PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web of Science databases.

I propose a technique for identifying fundamental properties using structures already present in physical theories. I argue that, in conjunction with a particular naturalistic commitment, that I dub 'algebraic naturalism', these structures can be used to generate a standard of metaphysical determinacy. This standard can be used to rule out the possibility of a virulent strain of 'deep' metaphysical indeterminacy that has been imputed to quantum mechanics.

Though they are largely known to be commensals, they may also cause life-threatening infections like infective endocarditis, septicemia, pyogenic infections, pneumonia, and meningitis. The viridans group streptococci (VGS) are usually identified by biotyping; however, species discrimination is not always possible by phenotypic characterization.

The oral cavity houses a diverse community of microorganisms which play an important role in maintaining the health of the individual. The coexistence of periodontal infections with coronary artery disease (CAD) has been shown in many studies. We investigated the presence and abundance of periodontitis-causing bacteria in patients with CAD.

We present two cases of Campylobacter enterocolitis complicated by bowel ischemia in a 79-year-old male and a 53-year-old male, both presenting with abdominal pain and diarrhea and elevated lactate and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. CT demonstrated common findings of pneumatosis intestinalis (PI) and portal venous gas.

Relative deficits in immunity are, however, unclear, especially after 3 vaccine doses. We evaluated immune responses in hematology patients across three COVID-19 vaccination doses.

Although methotrexate is commonly used for a variety of diseases, this medication can precipitate side effects in a subset of patients. This is an atypical case of chronic low-dose methotrexate use leading to colitis and pancytopenia.
