Implementing inclusive strategies to deliver high-quality LGBTQ+ care in health care systems.

Aim: There is a growing recognition of the need to provide inclusive care for LGBTQ+ individuals. Our aim is to provide guidance for nurse managers contemplating similar inclusive changes in their workplace. The role of nurse managers as change agents is discussed based on our experience transforming a traditional suburban health care system to one that is now more LGBTQ+ inclusive.

Transgender Students: Advocacy, Care, and Support Opportunities for School Nurses.

Transgender individuals are disproportionately affected by negative mental and sexual health outcomes. School nurses have prime opportunities to combat these outcomes through affirming nursing care, especially when transgender students are socially transitioning. Examples of affirming practice include recognizing students' gender-affirming names, using their pronouns, ensuring safe locker rooms, advocating for student's clothing choices, stopping bullying and harassment, and refraining from making assumptions about their transgender students' sexual orientation.

Effect of antileukemia chemotherapy on marrow, blood, and oral granulocyte counts.

This study was designed to elicit the effects of antileukemia chemotherapy on marrow production, blood carriage, and oral extravasation of granulocytes, and on the phagocytic activity of those harvested from the mouth. Fifteen adult patients with various morphologic forms of acute leukemia were followed through one to four courses of chemotherapy. Oral saline rinse samples were obtained thrice weekly and prepared for enumeration in a hemocytometer.
