Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a global health concern with significant public health and individual impact. Currently available diagnostic methods cannot visualize microvenous pathologies that have shown to result in severe forms of CVI and also affect the skin. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) may close the CVI diagnostic gap by providing a fast, label-free, and non-invasive solution to visualize cutaneous microvasculature.

The diagnosis of primary Nocardia infection is always made late due to the nonspecific clinical presentation of patients with Nocardia infection and the time required for Nocardia culture. Due to its rarity and nonspecific clinical presentation, patient survival is often compromised due to misdiagnosis.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that histone lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1) is overexpressed in various cancers. Elevated levels of LSD1 intricately modulate immune checkpoints, the function of immune cells, and the expression of immunomodulators, impacting both innate and adaptive immunity.

Understanding the fate of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the deep ocean is crucial for elucidating the biogeochemical cycle of organic carbon under anthropogenic influences. In this study, surface sediments were collected from the deep sea of the Eastern Indian Ocean (water depth: 2161-4545 m) and analyzed for 29 semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs), including parent PAHs and their alkylated derivatives, as well as source biomarkers. The target SVOCs (∑SVOCs: 23.

In this study, surface sediments were collected from deep sea of the Eastern Indian Ocean (2161-4545 m) and analyzed for organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Long-range atmospheric transport was identified as the dominant pathway for OCPs (36.

Circadian clock thermal adaptation in leafy vegetables such as Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis) is poorly understood but essential to sustain and increase vegetable production under changing climates.

This study aims to investigate the spatial distribution and vertical profiles of dissolved PAHs in the Beibu Gulf (BG) and adjacent waters of the South China Sea, along with hydrological, meteorological, and biochemical variables. Particularly relevant are the effects of atmospheric pressure, salinity, ammonium, chlorophyll-a, as well as riverine inputs (RI), sea currents, and upwelling.

In this study, we introduced a novel approach based on polarized light scattering technique, which offers advantages in terms of rapid, high-throughput, and submicron-sized detection. This technique was successfully applied to characterize the weathered MPs after a 180-day laboratory simulation of coastal environments.

It is essential to conduct a comprehensive and precise assessment of the global burden of urologic diseases.
Methods: We obtained data on incidence, prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) for the aforementioned urologic diseases by age, sex, location, and year from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021.
Objectives: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) with different cannulation strategies is determined according to surgical position and patient condition. However, no cannulation guidelines have been proposed. This retrospective study assessed the outcomes of diverse ECMO cannulation strategies in patients undergoing lung transplantation (LTx).

While most studies rely on outcome indicators, they may not accurately measure the quality of care. Process indicators are not only strongly associated with treatment outcomes, but are also more sensitive to whether patients are treated accurately, enabling timely intervention.

We introduce a novel mouse lobar LTx model that potentially provides a mouse model for clinical lobar LTx and increase the utilization rate of the experimental donor.
Methods: Lobar and orthotopic left LTx were performed in syngeneic strain combinations.

Still, fully harnessing the potential of organoids requires advanced imaging technologies and analytical tools to quantitatively monitor organoid growth. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a promising imaging modality for organoid analysis due to its high-resolution, label-free, non-destructive, and real-time 3D imaging capabilities, but accurately identifying and quantifying organoids in OCT images remain challenging due to various factors.

For 3-ring PAHs and most of 4- to 6-ring, volatilization and deposition fluxes were observed, respectively. Seasonal variations in air-sea exchange flux suggest the influence of monsoon transitions.

Methods: Lumbar MRI images from 133 subjects were included in this study. LDD was classified into grades by Pfirrmann classification and was measured as peak separation value by MRI histogram analysis.
Background: Although its immunomodulatory properties make thymopentin (TP5) appealing, its rapid metabolism and inactivation in the digestive system pose significant challenges for global scientists. PEGylated niosomal nanocarriers are hypothesized to improve the physicochemical stability of TP5, and to enhance its intestinal permeability for oral administration.
Methods: TP5-loaded PEGylated niosomes were fabricated using the thin film hydration method.
Objective: To recruit immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM) patients with extramuscular manifestations who were refractory to initial therapy with either monotherapy with prednisolone or dual therapy with prednisolone and immunosuppressants. These patients subsequently received a combination of prednisolone, tacrolimus, and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), and the efficacy of this treatment regimen was assessed in patients with IMNM.
