Treating methicillin-resistant (MRSA) infection remains one of the most difficult challenges in clinical practice, primarily due to the resistance of MRSA to multiple antibiotics. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop novel antibiotics with high efficacy and low cross-resistance rates. In this study, a series of novel pleuromutilin derivatives with coumarin structures were synthesized and subsequently assessed for their biological activities.

Objective: Tamoxifen is an effective anti-tumor medicine, but evidence has been provided on tamoxifen-related inflammation as well as its impact on gut microbiota. In this study, we aimed to investigate tamoxifen-induced gut microbiota and inflammation alteration.

Methods: We established a BC xenograft mouse model using the MCF-7 cell line.

Though the hypoglycemic effect of whole grain hulless barley ( L.) has been documented, whether glucose metabolism would be improved by hulless barley with moderate peeling is still unclear. The purpose of this study was to compare the differences in glucose metabolism and gut microbiota between partially (10%) peeled hulless barley (PHB) and whole grain hulless barley (WHB) intervention in obese mice induced by a high-fat diet.

Background: Androgen receptor (AR) is becoming an important factor in the pathogenesis of breast cancer. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is widely used in treating breast cancer patients. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subtype of breast cancer, which has worse prognosis than other subtypes.

Aim: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of microwave ablation (MWA) for benign breast lesions.

Material And Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library databases, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform databases were searched.

Results: A total of 10 studies were included, giving a sample size of 1241 patients and 2729 benign breast lesions.

Acute mastitis is one of the main reasons why breastfeeding women stop breastfeeding, and medication should be used with caution. Considering the uncertainty of mastitis infection and the indications of antibiotic use, as well as the problem of drug resistance and the safety of medication during lactation, probiotics have become an alternative treatment choice. However, a meta-analysis of the effects of probiotics in preventing and treating lactational mastitis is still lacking.

Background: An elevated level of olfactomedin-like-2A () is unfavorable for female breast cancer patients. Patients with a high mRNA level of receive a poor prognosis. Therefore, we speculate that inhibiting the expression of this gene may be beneficial to breast cancer patients.

The nutritional functions of highland barley (HB) are superior to those of regular cereals and have attracted increasing attention in recent years. The objective of this study was to investigate whether partly milled highland barley (PHB) can regulate the serum glucose and lipid disorders of mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD) and to further explore their potential gut microbiota modulatory effect. Our results showed that PHB supplementation significantly reduced fasting blood glucose (FBG) and improved oral glucose tolerance.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Amorphophalli Rhizoma (APR) is widely used as an adjuvant treatment for advanced and metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), but its effects, potential active ingredients, and mechanism of action on estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) and human epidermal growth factor receptor-positive (HER2+) breast cancer cells were not reported.

Aim Of The Study: The present study investigated the effects and mechanism of APR on ER+ and HER2+ breast cancer cells.

Materials And Methods: Rotary evaporation was used to prepare different extracts of APR.

Objective: Biomedical text summarization helps biomedical information seekers avoid information overload by reducing the length of a document while preserving the contents' essence. Our systematic review investigates the most recent biomedical text summarization researches on biomedical literature and electronic health records by analyzing their techniques, areas of application, and evaluation methods. We identify gaps and propose potential directions for future research.

The purpose of the present work is to study the pancreatic lipase inhibitory effects of different subfractions (n-hexane, ethyl acetate (EA), n-butanol, and water) from ethanol extracts of nonfermented and fungi-fermented oats and to delineate the interactions of three primary phenolic acids in the EA subfractions. The EA subfraction showed the highest inhibitory effect on pancreatic lipase activity at 1.5 mg/mL compared to the other subfractions, regardless of whether the oats were fermented.

Manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn-SOD; SOD(2)) is an important antioxidant defense enzyme. In this study, a full-length Mn-SOD cDNA was cloned from the cDNA library of Phascolosoma esculenta. The cDNA is 1385 bp in length, including an open reading frame (ORF) of 681 bp encoding 226 amino acids.

The iron storage protein, ferritin, plays a key role in iron metabolism, but its regulation and functions in many invertebrate species are still largely unknown. In our previous work, an inducible ferritin cDNA from Phascolosoma esculenta with a full-length of 1017 bp has been cloned. In this follow-up study, the deducted ferritin protein sequence was predicted to be a polypeptide of 175 amino acids with a molecular mass of 20.
