Two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures (2D vdWHs) have recently gained widespread attention because of their abundant and exotic properties, which open up many new possibilities for next-generation nanoelectronics. However, practical applications remain challenging due to the lack of high-throughput techniques for fabricating high-quality vdWHs. Here, we demonstrate a general electrochemical strategy to prepare solution-processable high-quality vdWHs, in which electrostatic forces drive the stacking of electrochemically exfoliated individual assemblies with intact structures and clean interfaces into vdWHs with strong interlayer interactions.

Topological charge (TC) is generally acknowledged as an important attribute of an optical vortex (OV), which indicates the twisted characterization of the wavefront. In most circumstances, the TC remains constant as an integer or fraction along the azimuthal direction. Herein, by transforming the TCs into the trigonometric functions of the azimuthal angle to tailor the spiral phase distributions, we numerically demonstrate generating perfect vortex beams (PVBs) with sine-function TC based on the all-dielectric geometric metasurfaces, whose unit structure is optimized to an ideal half-wave plate.

The recent discovery of Nitrospira species capable of complete ammonia oxidation (comammox) in non-marine natural and engineered ecosystems under mesothermal conditions has changed our understanding of microbial nitrification. However, little is known about the occurrence of comammox bacteria or their ability to survive in moderately thermal and/or hyperthermal habitats. Here, we report the wide distribution of comammox Nitrospira in five terrestrial hot springs at temperatures ranging from 36 to 80°C and provide metagenome-assembled genomes of 11 new comammox strains.

Light-based three-dimensional (3D) printing of hydrogels has been widely adopted for accelerating bone regeneration. However, the design principles of traditional hydrogels do not take into consideration the biomimetic regulation of multiple stages throughout the bone healing, and the hydrogels made cannot effectively induce sufficient osteogenesis, which in turn greatly limits their capacity in guiding bone regeneration. The recent progress achieved in DNA hydrogel, which is based on synthetic biology, could facilitate the innovation of the current strategy due to its advantages, such as resistance to enzymatic degradation, programmability, structural controllability, and mechanical properties.

Concave nanostructure with highly branched architecture and abundant step atoms is one kind of desirable materials for energy conversion devices. However, current synthetic strategies for non-noble metal-based NiCoP concave nanostructure still remain challenging. Herein, we demonstrate a site-selective chemical etching and subsequent phosphorating strategy to fabricate highly branched NiCoP concave nanocrosses (HB-NiCoP CNCs).

Although the phylum Chloroflexota is ubiquitous, its biology and evolution are poorly understood due to limited cultivability. Here, we isolated two motile, thermophilic bacteria from hot spring sediments belonging to the genus Tepidiforma and class Dehalococcoidia within the phylum Chloroflexota. A combination of cryo-electron tomography, exometabolomics, and cultivation experiments using stable isotopes of carbon revealed three unusual traits: flagellar motility, a peptidoglycan-containing cell envelope, and heterotrophic activity on aromatics and plant-associated compounds.

The construction of a sensitive strategy for in situ visualizing and dynamic tracing intracellular microRNA is of great importance. Via the toehold-mediated strand displacement process, the catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) could offer several hundreds-fold signal amplifications. However, the CHA may produce certain background interferences since microRNA may exist in normal cells.

In this work, we proposed a novel High-Low-High Schottky barrier bidirectional tunnel field effect transistor (HLHSB-BTFET). Compared with previous technology which is named as High Schottky barrier BTFET (HSB-BTFET), the proposed HLHSB-BTFET requires only one gate electrode with independent power supply. More importantly, take an N type HLHSB-BTFET as an example, different from the previously proposed HSB-BTFET, due to that the effective potential of the central metal is increased with the increasing of drain to source voltage (V), built-in barrier heights maintain at the same value when the V is increased.
