Background: Kidney stone disease poses a significant challenge in the geriatric population. Preoperative renal function has been speculated to influence the composition of renal calculi, and consequently, the management approach. We studied the correlation between preoperative renal function and the composition of renal calculi in elderly patients, which could have implications for optimizing therapeutic strategies.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the alterations in serum bile acid profiles among individuals with fatty liver (including non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) and alcoholic fatty liver (AFL) and evaluate their clinical significance when combined with liver enzyme levels.
Methods: A cohort of 110 individuals with fatty liver (including non-alcoholic fatty liver 58 individuals and alcoholic fatty liver 52 individuals) was selected from the Department of Gastroenterology at Wenzhou People's Hospital between January 2021 and December 2022, while a control group of 66Â healthy individuals was recruited from the hospital's health examination center during the same period. Clinical data and blood samples were collected from all participants.
Softening during fruit ripening often exacerbates mechanical damage during postharvest processing and increases susceptibility to pathogens. According to current research, the fruit softening process is closely related to the degradation of the cell wall. The nonenzymatic protein expansin (EXP) is a key cell wall loosening agent involved in cell growth and cell wall degradation.

Therefore, this study aims to investigate gender-specific differences in the relationship between the TyG index and carotid plaques in a high cardiovascular risk population in China.
Methods: This cross-sectional study's data were derived from a longitudinal pilot study involving 1,085 high-risk cardiovascular subjects.
Photoperiods are crucial environmental factors in the growth and health of modern intensive broiler chicken production. To date, the effects of different photoperiods on glucose metabolism, acetylcholine (ACh), and its relative acetylcholine receptor modulation in broilers remain elusive. Herein, we aimed to identify the effects of different photoperiods on regulating glucose metabolism, ACh, nicotinic acetylcholine receptor alpha 4 (α4 nAChR) mRNA, and M3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (M3 mAChR) modulation in broilers.

A cervical interbody cage based on this type of porous structure was designed and fabricated, and its mechanical properties and biocompatibility were evaluated.

Marine-derived fungi are assuming an increasingly central role in the search for natural leading compounds with unique chemical structures and diverse pharmacological properties. However, some gene clusters are not expressed under laboratory conditions. In this study, we have found that a marine-derived fungus sp.

Previous studies have analyzed the association between moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and psychological symptoms, but few studies have investigated the association between soy product consumption and these symptoms. In addition, the associations between physical activity and soy product consumption with psychological symptoms have not been investigated.

A total of 432 1-day-old (d) Arbor Acres chickens with a male/female ratio of 1:1 were randomly divided into the following 4 treatment groups: the male thermoneutral group, the female thermoneutral group, the male heat stress group, and the female heat stress group. The chickens in the thermoneutral groups were kept at a comfortable temperature from 1 to 42 d, while chickens in the heat stress groups were kept at a comfortable temperature from 1 to 28 d and at a high ambient temperature from d 29 to 42.

The widely-used plastic cling films is particularly complicated due to their high consumption and non-degradability. Herein, this study proposed to fabricate a carboxymethyl cellulose/polyvinyl alcohol/pyrazoic acid (CPP) hydrogel for postharvest banana preservation.

In this study, a V-doped mesoporous bioactive glass (V-MBG) was prepared, and its effects on osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (rBMSCs) and potential signaling pathways were investigated. The physicochemical characterization revealed that the incorporation of V slightly reduced the specific surface area and increased the mesoporous pore size, and the abundant mesopores of V-MBG were beneficial to the sustained dissolution of V(V) ions as well as calcium, silicon, and phosphorus ions.

The spatial distribution of urban green spaces (UGS) is closely related to the health of residents and the ecological pattern of cities. Exploring the equity of UGSs plays an important role in urban planning and also provides guidance for urban development. Taking the main urban area of Fuzhou City as an example, this study uses network big data and census data to pinpoint the population demand, evaluates the accessibility and equity of UGS within the basic living circle, neighborhood living circle and daily living circle of residents at the scale of residential and sub-districts.

A linear vibration sensor with a runway type based on MHD was independently developed by a laboratory. In a practical test, its output signal was mixed with a large amount of noise, in which the continuous narrowband interference was particularly prominent, resulting in the inability to efficiently carry out the real-time detection of micro-vibration.

In this study, exosomes from hair follicle epidermal neural crest stem cells (EPI-NCSCs-Exos) combined with ANAs were used to bridge facial nerve defects. EPI-NCSCs-Exos were isolated by ultracentrifuge, and were identified.

Three groups of linear glucan chains, with a degree of polymerization (DP) of 383∼2950, 37∼75, and 3∼8, were obtained after debranched maize starch (DMS) was fractionated by differential ethanol precipitation. The glucan fraction with DP 383∼2950 formed only type II complexes with lauric acid (LA), whereas the fraction with DP 37∼75 formed predominantly type I complexes.

The results showed that HA crystals were firstly formed and anchored on the membrane of microspheres like the initial deposition of hydroxyapatite crystals inside MVs. With the continuous growth and accumulation of mineral crystals, HA coating was finally formed on ALG microspheres.
