The persistence of farmland plastic pollution has raised significant concerns regarding its potential long-term impacts on soil health in the context of global climate change. However, there are still gaps in the understanding of the impacts of plastic residues on soil microbial communities and functions in agricultural environments under unstable and extreme climatic conditions. In this study, the effects of plastic residues (two types and three shapes) on farmland soil bacterial communities and functions across varying environmental conditions were investigated through microscopic experiments.

Herein, this study investigated the distribution of RMF abundance and metal concentration in different soil layers of 75 plastic-mulching croplands in subtropical China; meanwhile, we also explored the associations of RMF characteristics with metal concentration. The results showed that land type, film mulching amount, and film mulching time were the main factors affecting RMF abundance, distribution, and particle size composition.

In this work, a method was developed and optimized for the analysis of polyfluoroalkyl and/or perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) content in surface water and sediment samples with high instrumental response and good separation. Surface water and sediment samples were collected from the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) to analyze the distribution characteristics of perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs), perfluoroalkane sulfonic acids (PFSAs), perfluoroalkyl phosphonic acids (PFPAs), perfluoroalkyl phosphinic acids (PFPiAs), and polyfluoroalkyl phosphoric acid diesters (diPAPs). The results showed that the total concentrations of PFCAs and PFSAs in YRD varied from 31 to 902ng/L.

The distribution characteristics and health risk assessment were investigated in the present study. The results showed that the PAEs could not be detected in only one sample site.

A new fluorimetric method was established for the determination of trace amounts of metallothioneins (MT) in earthworm, using a lomefloxacin-europium(iii) (LMLX-Eu(3+)) complex as a fluorescent probe. In a pH 6.5 Tris-HCl buffer solution, MT can markedly decrease the fluorescence intensity of LMLX-Eu(3+) at λ = 613 nm, and the magnitude of the decrease in this intensity was in direct proportion to the concentration of MT.
