This study aimed to investigate the association of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) with nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1) and the biological function of NRF1 in EBV-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC). Western blot and qRT-PCR were used to assess the effect of latent membrane protein 2A (LMP2A) on NRF1 expression after transfection with LMP2A plasmid or siLMP2A. The effects of NRF1 on the migration and apoptosis ability of GC cells were investigated by transwell assay and flow cytometry apoptosis analysis in vitro, respectively.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) was the first tumor virus discovered in humans and can cause various types of tumors. Molecular classification suggests that EBV-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC) is a unique subtype of gastric cancer.EBV was also the first virus found to encode its own microRNAs.

The RPMS1 gene is the only member of the BamHI-A rightward transcripts (BARTs) family for which a full-length complementary DNA has been identified, and RPMS1 transcript has been confirmed in many Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive malignancies. However, the effects of sequence variations of RPMS1 in hematological malignancies and their biological significance are unclear. To explore the association between RPMS1 gene variations and hematological malignancy, the RPMS1 gene of 391 EBV-positive samples from patients with EBV-positive leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes and lymphoma in northern China were sequenced.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a ubiquitous oncogenic herpesvirus, infects more than 90% of the adult population worldwide. The long noncoding RNA H19 is downregulated in EBV-positive gastric cancer (EBVaGC) and nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). In this study, we found that loss of H19 is caused by hypermethylation status of the H19 promoter in EBV-positive GC and NPC cell lines.

To investigate the role of miR-BART4-3p in EBV-associated gastric cancer (EBVaGC) and its regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and migration by targeting AXL in GC. Quantitative real-time PCR and western blot were used to detect the expression of AXL. The methylation status of AXL gene promoter region was determined by bisulfite sequencing PCR.

The eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) is a component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4F, a significant complex in the protein translation process. It has been found to be closely related to many human tumors, such as gastric carcinoma. It is known that the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) upregulates eIF4E in various ways in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is found in ~7% of gastric carcinoma cases worldwide, and all tumour cells harbour the clonal EBV genome. EBV can regulate pathways and protein expression to induce gastric carcinoma; however, the molecular mechanism underlying EBV-associated gastric carcinoma (EBVaGC) remains elusive. GEO microarray and molecular experiments were performed to compare CXCR4 expression between EBV-positive and EBV-negative gastric carcinoma (EBVnGC).
