In 40 girls between 10 and 16 years, 28 of them asthmatics, spirometry and body plethysmography was carried out before and after an air bath from the end of december at outside temperatures of -10 degrees C up to april at temperatures of +10 degrees C. In 50% of the asthmatic girls a bronchospasm occurred, which depended nearly linearly (r = 0.68) from the outside temperature.

The problem was investigated whether persons with respiratory complaints would benefit from breathing the nebulized spray thrown up by the breaking of the waves on the shores of a North Sea island. The case material comprised 45 children (37 boys, 8 girls) who had suffered from bronchial asthma for an average of six years. The children were sent on a walk and their respiratory function was analyzed by means of telemetric equipment at 5 points: in the hospital, in a part in the centre of the island, at the beginning of their walk along the beach, 15 minutes later, and finally again at the hospital.

In a group of 40 asthmatic children, the following lung function parameters were measured during symptom free period: functional residual capacity (FRC); vital capacity (VC); total lung capacity (TLC); total pulmonary flow resistance (R1) and dynamic lung compliance (C1dyn).
