Background And Aim: Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) are one of the common postoperative complications. This study aims to investigate the epidemiology of postoperative HAIs in patients with open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD) and robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (RPD).

Methods: This retrospective cohort study described the trend of HAIs in patients undergoing PD from January 2013 to December 2022 at a tertiary hospital.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Yangxue Qingnao Granules when used alongside standard Western medicine for treating essential hypertension and its symptoms.
  • A meta-analysis of 34 randomized controlled trials, involving 4,532 patients, revealed significant reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as improvements in several symptoms like dizziness, insomnia, and headaches when compared to Western medicine alone.
  • Subgroup analyses suggested that combining Yangxue Qingnao Granules with ACE inhibitors showed the most significant impact on blood pressure reduction.

To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of Tianma Gouteng Granules combined with conventional anti-hypertensive drugs in the treatment of essential hypertension. The clinical randomized controlled trials(RCTs) on the treatment of essential hypertension with Tianma Gouteng Granules combined with conventional anti-hypertensive drugs were searched in PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, VIP, CNKI, Wanfang, SinoMed since the establishment of the databases to April 2020 based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and Meta-analysis was conducted by using RevMan 5.3 software.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluates the effectiveness and safety of Songling Xuemaikang Capsules when used alongside conventional Western medicine for treating essential hypertension, reviewing data from various clinical trials up to February 2020.
  • Meta-analysis of 27 randomized controlled trials involving 3,100 patients shows that this combination significantly reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure, triglycerides, and total cholesterol, while increasing HDL cholesterol, compared to Western medicine alone.
  • The findings suggest no significant difference in LDL cholesterol levels and imply that the reductions in blood pressure may be associated with specific types of medications, highlighting the need for more clinical studies to confirm these results.

RNA-protein interaction (RPI) plays an important role in the basic cellular processes of organisms. Unfortunately, due to time and cost constraints, it is difficult for biological experiments to determine the relationship between RNA and protein to a large extent. So there is an urgent need for reliable computational methods to quickly and accurately predict RNA-protein interaction.

Adriamycin (ADR) is a chemotherapeutic drug used to treat tumors in a clinical setting. However, its use is limited by a side effect of cardiotoxicity. Glibenclamide (Gli), an inhibitor of mitochondrial ATP-dependent potassium (K-ATP) channels, blocks the cardioprotective effects of mitochondrial K-ATP channel openers and induces apoptosis in rodent pancreatic islet β-cell lines.

In order to investigate the distribution characteristics and ecological risk of HCHs and DDTs in the surface water of Xinxiang, 18 surface water samples were collected from from Xinxiang and the concentrations of HCHs and DDTs were determined. The ecological risk of HCHs and DDTs was evaluated using the overlapping areas of probability density function and safety threshold methods. The results showed that the levels of total HCHs (sum of 2 HCHs) and total DDTs (sum of DDTs) in 18 samples detected by GC-ECD ranged from 1.
