Endometriosis in an ectopic kidney: a rare case report and literature review.

Background: Endometriosis mainly occurs in female pelvic organs. Endometriosis in the kidney is extremely rare.

Case Presentation: We herein describe a case of a 19-year-old girl with occasional mild abdominal pain associated with an ectopic left kidney.

Period 2 Regulates CYP2B10 Expression and Activity in Mouse Liver.

CYP2B10 is responsible for metabolism and detoxification of many clinical drugs. Here, we aimed to investigate a potential role of Period 2 (PER2) in regulating expression of hepatic CYP2B10. Regulatory effects of PER2 on hepatic expression of CYP2B10 and other enzymes were determined using deficient mice with exons 4-6 deleted (named mice).

And defatted walnut powder extract (DWPE) has the actions of tonifying the liver and kidney, dissipating stagnation and removing blood stasis, which has the effect on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, the effective components of DWPE in vivo were unclear and the multiple mechanisms of DWPE against NAFLD have not been explored.

Multiparametric Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Evaluating Renal Allograft Injury.

Kidney transplantation is the treatment of choice for patients with end-stage renal disease, as it extends survival and increases quality of life in these patients. However, chronic allograft injury continues to be a major problem, and leads to eventual graft loss. Early detection of allograft injury is essential for guiding appropriate intervention to delay or prevent irreversible damage.

Positive Captopril Renography Without Renal Artery Stenosis but a Renal Cell Carcinoma.

A positive captopril renography indicates that patient's hypertension is renin dependent, most commonly caused by renal artery stenosis. The authors reported a case of positive captopril renography; however, CT demonstrated that renal arteries were intact, but there was a huge chromophobe renal cell carcinoma. Renin-dependent hypertension was relieved soon after nephrectomy.

[Value of diffusion-weighted imaging, H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy and 3D whole-brain arterial spin labeling in the diagnosis of medulloblastoma].

Objective: To explore the value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) and 3D whole-brain arterial spin labeling (3D ASL) in the diagnosis of medulloblastoma in the posterior cranial fossa.

Methods: The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of 16 patients with pathologically confirmed medulloblastoma in the posterior cranial fossa were analyzed retrospectively. All the patients were examined with plane and enhanced brain MRI scans; 5 patients also underwent examinations with DWI, 12 with MRS, and 5 with 3D ASL.

An efficient access to optically active sulfahydantoins, 4-aryl-1,2,5-thiadiazolidin-3-one 1,1-dioxides, was developed through palladium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of the corresponding cyclic N-sulfonylketimines with up to 98% ee.

Lung Metastasis From Prostate Cancer Revealed by 18F-FDG PET/CT Without Osseous Metastasis on Bone Scan.

A 54-year-old man, a case of prostate cancer, underwent radical prostatectomy and hormone therapy. Elevated prostate-specific antigen level developed 7 years later, but pelvic MRI and bone scan revealed negative results. Radiotherapy was performed under the suspicion of local recurrence but in vain.
