This study aimed to compare the effects of nandrolone decanoate on the morphology and physiology of ovarian tissues in two experimental models, Zebrafish and rats, after in vitro cultivation. A total of 136 animals were used ( rats, n=36, and Zebrafish, n=100). In both experiments, the animals were divided into two groups (Control and Deca) and were exposed to nandrolone decanoate for seven weeks.

We tested serial cross-sectional serum samples from 2005 to 2015 (N=2,530) for IgG to examine measles seroprevalence, spatiotemporal patterns of titers across regions and antibody dynamics among children aged 1-9 years who grew up during varying measles circulation in Madagascar under a one-dose vaccination schedule. We found that measles seroprevalence has generally decreased over this time period.

Background: Nonenveloped viruses, such as hepatitis A virus (HAV) and parvovirus B19 (B19V), are not inactivated by detergents and solvents commonly used to manufacture plasma derivatives. Cases of transfusion-transmitted HAV and B19V have already been described in several countries. This study aimed to determine the incidence of HAV and B19V asymptomatic infections in blood donors from Rio de Janeiro and evaluate the residual risk of transmission to blood derivative recipients.

The functionalized CNFs were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy-attenuated total reflectance. The results indicate that the chemical modification was successful, as evidenced by the presence of a band at 1540 cm, corresponding to the N-H bond of the amine group.

They are thus a powerful complement to often incomplete epidemiological and public health measures (administrative measures of vaccination coverage, incidence estimates, etc.).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFamilial platelet disorder (FPD) is associated with germline mutations, establishing a preleukemic state and increasing the risk of developing leukemia. Currently, there are no intervention strategies to prevent leukemia progression. Single-cell RNA sequencing ( = 10) combined with functional analysis of samples from patients with -FPD ( > 75) revealed that FPD hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) displayed increased myeloid differentiation and suppressed megakaryopoiesis because of increased activation of prosurvival and inflammatory pathways.

This review with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease (AD), emphasizes the burgeoning significance of the gut microbiota (GMB) in neuroinflammation and its impact on the gut-brain axis (GBA), a communication conduit between the gut and the central nervous system (CNS). Changes in the gut microbiome, including diminished microbial diversity and the prevalence of pro-inflammatory bacteria, are associated with AD pathogenesis.

Methods: Cross-sectional analyses from the 15-year and 22-year follow-ups of the 1993 Pelotas (Brazil) Birth Cohort. The outcomes were assessed based on self-reported data, and the patterns of co-occurrence were determined using cluster analysis.

Herein, we assessed the potential toxicogenic and/or oxidant effects of hydroxyurea associated with ascorbic acid by examinations in and human cancer cells and systemically on mice tissues. Growing roots and HCT-116 colorectal tumor cells were examined after HU and HU plus ascorbic acid exposure.

The stomach of sloths represents 20-30% of their body weight and is adapted to gastric fermentation of plant material. These anatomical and physiological adaptations can be altered by many factors when confined to captivity, which favours fatal gastric conditions.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the association between head circumference and intelligence, schooling, employment, and income. The review 1) summarizes the overall evidence and 2) restricts the evidence to a subset of articles that met minimum quality criteria.

Materials And Methods: This mapping review was conducted following PRISMA-ScR guidelines for scoping reviews, and its protocol was registered on the Open Science Framework platform. Systematic searches were conducted, considering studies published between 2013 and February 2024 in the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most aggressive brain tumor with a poor prognosis. While Histone Deacetylase inhibitors have shown promising results in inhibiting cancer cell invasion and promoting apoptosis, their effects on GBM secretion, specifically focusing on extracellular vesicles (EVs) secretion, remain largely unexplored. Using label-free NANOLC-MS/MS methodology, we identified significant changes in the abundance of membrane traffic regulatory proteins in the secretome of U87MG cells after the treatment with the HDAC inhibitor Trichostatin A (TSA).

Their structures were established by HR-MS, 1D and 2D NMR and comparison with literature data. Additionally, the antimicrobial activity of the leaves and stem bark extracts and fractions was evaluated using the micro broth dilution technique.
