Pheochromocytomas (PCCs) and paragangliomas (PGLs), denoted PPGLs, are rare neuroendocrine tumours and are highly heterogeneous. The phenotype-genotype correlation is poor; therefore, additional studies are needed to understand their pathogenesis. We describe the clinical characteristics of 63 patients with PPGLs and perform a genetic study.

This study aims to evaluate the in silico genomic characteristics of five species of the genus : , , , , and , with a view to their application in therapeutic research. The 16S rRNA comparison indicated that these species were phylogenetically distinct. Pairwise comparisons of digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) and OrthoANI values between these studied type strains indicated that dDDH values were below 62.

The species and were isolated from legume nodules and the 16S rRNA sequences of their respective type strains, CCBAU 71042 and CCBAU 71714, were highly divergent from those of the other species of the genera and , respectively. However, the 16S rRNA gene sequences obtained for strains CCBAU 71042 and CCBAU 71714 several years after description, were different from the original ones, showing 100 % similarity to the type strains of and , respectively. A whole series of processes lead to the decrease in the use of traditional medicine by the indigenous peoples of Mexico, including the reduction in the number of traditional healers and the direct and indirect expansion of biomedicine. This essay addresses the central role these processes play in the relations of hegemony/subalternity that occur in different fields of reality, and especially in the health-illness-care-prevention processes, given that counter-hegemonic processes are not generated, or those that do arise have been ineffective in confronting social hegemony in general and biomedical hegemony in particular.

Ternary blended cements, made with silica fume and limestone, provide significant benefits such as improved compressive strength, chloride penetration resistance, sulfates attack, etc. Furthermore, they could be considered low-carbon cements, and they contribute to reducing the depletion of natural resources in reference to water usage, fossil fuel consumption, and mining. Limestone (10%, 15%, and 20%) with different fineness and coarse silica fume (3%, 5%, and 7%) was used to produce ternary cements.

The vast majority of studies on traditional medicine disregard the existence of biomedicine and alternative and complementary medicines in the lives of the indigenous peoples of Mexico and Latin America in general, despite the fact that these populations increasingly make use of biomedical knowledge more and more intensively. In this text I have attempted to elucidate this expansion of biomedicine and the decline of traditional medicine, through ethnographic information related to different indigenous groups. This expansion of biomedicine takes place despite the various negative consequences it generates due to different factors such as its comparative effectiveness, which is evidenced in the use of and demand for pharmaceuticals, biomedical services, and in particular the construction of hospitals in their communities.

Most analysts identify three main foundations of the development of traditional Mexican medicine between the 15th and 18th centuries (pre-Hispanic, Hispanic, and African), as well as a number of complementary sources incorporated over the course of the 18th and 19th centuries. However, a significant proportion of leading specialists consider pre-Hispanic medicine to be the primary basis of traditional medicine, downplaying Hispanic influence and disregarding African influence. Furthermore, they either ignore or give only cursory treatment to the role of biomedicine in the present-day medicalization of traditional medicine.
