Background: Chagas disease (CD), a Neglected Tropical Disease caused by , affects millions of people in Latin America and the southern US and spreads worldwide. CD results from close interactions between humans, animals, and vectors, influenced by sociodemographic factors and housing materials.

A recent study published data on the growth performance, relative weights of the organs of the gastrointestinal tract, liver histology, serum biochemistry, and hematological parameters for turkey poults fed an experimental diet contaminated with aflatoxin B (AFB) and humic acids (HA) extracted from vermicompost. The negative effects of AFB (250 ng AFB/g of feed) were significantly reduced by HA supplementation (0.25% /), suggesting that HA might be utilized to ameliorate the negative impact of AFB from contaminated diets.

Cryostructured gels, better known as cryogels, are a very important emerging class of biomaterials that have diverse applications in food preservation. This work shows a novel alternative to prepare a cryostructured composite coating made from a blend of xanthan, bovine collagen, and oregano essential oil.
