Parosteal lipomas are exceedingly rare and can pose diagnostic challenges due to their unusual imaging characteristics. Here, we report the case of a 70-year-old man who presented with a large painless shoulder mass that caused functional limitation. Imaging revealed a predominantly fatty lesion with an osseous excrescence and irregular cortical changes.

Introduction: Lymphedema, a debilitating characterized by localized fluid retention and tissue swelling, results from abnormalities in the lymphatic system. In the case of primary lymphedema, this condition is attributed to malformations in lymphatic vessels or nodes, and it is marked by a relentless progression leading to irreversible tissue fibrosis after repetitive inflammation. Many questions regarding its treatment, such as the choice of the type of intervention and the timing, still remain unanswered.

Objective: This research aimed to assess the intake of vitamin E and its relationship with lipid peroxidation markers and C-reactive protein levels in patients with flu symptoms and COVID-19 diagnosis.

Methods: A cross-sectional study with 121 patients of both sexes assisted at two basic health units in the city of Teresina, Piauí, with COVID-19 diagnosis confirmed through real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, was performed between the 3 and 7 days of flu symptoms. The global nutritional status and the measurement of waist circumference were assessed according to the World Health Organization recommendations.

Following a request from the European Commission, the EFSA Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the revision of the tolerable upper intake level (UL) for vitamin E. As -tocopherol is recognised as the only essential form of vitamin E, the Panel restricted its evaluation to -tocopherol. Systematic reviews of the literature were conducted to assess evidence on priority adverse health effects of excess intake of vitamin E, namely risk of impaired coagulation and bleeding, cardiovascular disease and prostate cancer.

Objective: To evaluate the association between psoriasis (PSO), psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and periodontitis (PE), and the Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) impacts on individuals with psoriatic disease's daily activities compared to the non-psoriatic ones.

This article critically outlines how a 'health security' framework overlooks processes of intersectionality and the varying impacts of the virus on different segments of society, or what we term . We organize our analysis around three aspects of the pandemic that have become salient in Brazilian society, namely , , and , and delineate the intersectional impact of gendered inequality, neoliberal ideologies, and racial hierarchies within these three themes.

Effective Apixaban removal using hemoadsorption during emergent open-heart surgery: a case report and narrative literature review.

Background: The management of hemostasis in patients medicated with apixaban (Eliquis) undergoing emergency cardiac surgery is exceedingly difficult. The body's natural elimination pathways for apixaban prove ineffective in emergency situations, and the impact of hemodialysis is limited. We compared the two morphotypes using electron and optical microscopy, proteomics, and toxicity assessment on zebrafish embryos. The aim was to associate living, health and oral health conditions with the quality of life (QL) of children and adolescents (CA) with sickle cell disease (SCD). Of the 120 eligible users of a public hematological service, 106 CA with SCD from 6 to 18 years of age, and their caregivers, answered semi-structured questions about socio-demographic, health and oral health conditions. For QL, we used the validated instrument PedsQLSCD™.
