The treatment of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia was conducted with the use of 06-Paris-LA-66 program modified by the authors. Complete remission was obtained in 91.8% of cases.

The authors describe three comparatively rare cases of extremely severe symptomatic autoimmune thrombocytopenia associated with systemic lupus erythematosus. The use of glucocorticoids in large doses and in two cases of splenectomy turned out ineffective. The next therapeutic measures are suggested in the following succession: glucocorticoids----cytostatic drugs (vincristine)----splenectomy to be performed only in special cases.

The authors discuss the role and place of chest x-ray tomography, scintigraphy with 67Ga-citrate, ultrasonic investigation, angiography, angioscintigraphy, computed tomography, scintigraphy of the liver and bones in the diagnosis of recurrences of Hodgkin's disease and in control of a progress of disease. Indications for a successive use of one or the other method have been defined.

The activity of serum acid phosphatase (AP), bone marrow lymphoblasts and polymorphonuclear neutrophils was studied in 45 ALL patients. Cytochemical coefficients (CCC) and the percentage of positively reacting bone marrow cells were determined. All the patients received programmed polychemotherapy.

A combined study including selective angiography of the liver and spleen, angioscintigraphy with 99mTc-TCK-5, polypositional scintigraphy with 99mTc-frosstimag-phytate, and ultrasonic scanning was conducted to detect specific liver and splenic involvement in 57 patients with Hodgkin's disease, CT was performed in 4 patients. A high diagnostic value of all methods was shown in macronodal liver involvement (node sizes over 3 cm); of ultrasonic scanning--in the detection of nodes in the liver (node sizes from 1 to 3 cm); of ultrasonic scanning, angiography and angioscintigraphy--in nodal splenic involvement. Signs of diffuse-infiltrative liver involvement detected in angiography and angioscintigraphy were described.

Acid phosphatase (AP) of lymphocytes and neutrophils was examined cytochemically in 23 patients with associated diffuse toxic goiter (DTG) and thyrotoxicosis during thiamazol treatment, in 20 persons with a DTG remission, and in 5 patients with postradiation and postoperative hypothyroses. AP activity with multiple-granule distribution of the enzyme was high in the majority of the patients with thyrotoxicosis, decreasing with thiamazol treatment. Thyrotoxicosis recurred in 4 out of 11 patients whose lymphocytes had an increased amount of AP during a DTG remission.

The paper is concerned with the results of the automation of renogram storage and processing. The computer system 15 VUMS-28 (on the basis of the ELEKTRONIKA-60 computer) fitted out with storage on the magnetic tape (KML) AZII-4, two 3-channel renographs (NP-356 and NP-307), manufactured in Hungary, and a plotter N-306 were interfaced by means of the KAMAK apparatus. The REN-1 program in the QUASIC language ensuring simultaneous storage and processing of renograms from two renographs was developed.

The cytochemical test for PAS-positive material in CSF smears can be used for identification of leukemic cells of the lymphoid line. Qualitative smears were obtained from the CSF by the sedimentation method. Five patients were examined.

The results of splenectomy followed by chemotherapy are analysed. Fifteen patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) were entered into the study. The maximal survival of one of the patients subjected to splenectomy was 102 months.

The authors demonstrated advantages of irradiating lymphogranulomatosis patients with large fields of complex configuration. The use of computer eliminates the difficulties of dosage calculation. Application for these purposes of the 15 VUMS-28 unit based on the microcomputer "Elektronika-60" is suggested.

The authors report the use of the cytostatic drug cytosar in the control of herpetic complications in patients with acute leukemia and lymphogranulomatosis. A distinct effect was obtained as a result of intravenous drip of cytosar in a dose of 0.03-0.

The authors review variants of radiotherapy of patients with lymphogranulomatosis. Regard the method of irradiation with broad fields of complicated configuration as preferable. Point to the advisability of using one or another method depending on the disease stage.
