The evaluation of the shedding capacity of a garment is crucial in forensic analysis to understand fibre transfer mechanisms during contact activities. While adhesive tapes are commonly used, the lack of standardised pressure application -often done manually- poses a challenge. In addition, while previous studies have examined the effects of washing on fibre evidence, there is a notable absence in the literature regarding its impact on garment shedding capacity.

The purpose of our study was to compare the accuracy of the Hendrich II Fall Risk Model (HIIFRM) and Sunnyview Test Scale in predicting falls.

In this study, we report on the synthesis of multinary Zn-Cu-In-Se-P (ZCISeP) QDs and the application of the QDs-modified electrode (QDs/SPCE) as a solid superlattice transducer interface for the ratiometric electrochemical detection of the SARS-CoV-2-S1 protein in saliva. The ZCISeP QDs were synthesized through the formation of In(Zn)PSe QDs from InP QDs, followed by the incorporation of Cu cations into the crystal lattice via cation exchange processes.

This study investigates the impact of washing activities on both the release of fibres into wastewater and the transfer of constituent fibres from donor garments to receiver swatches. Using a low-cost friction tester and automated data collection through photography and ImageJ image processing software, controlled conditions were maintained for repeated experiments.

Data underpinning science have become one of the most precious assets in research, and while the principles of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) have been put forward as a guide to how to approach data handling, data sharing and long-term storage still remain a challenge for many research areas including forensic science. The reporting and the sharing of data can be made easier by giving them structure, the use of suitable labels and the inclusion of descriptors collated into metadata prior to their deposition in repositories with persistent identifiers. Such a systematic approach would strengthen the quality and the integrity of research while providing greater transparency to published materials.

Benzodiazepines are currently one of the most common drugs detected in individuals leaving Scottish prisons; however, understanding illicit benzodiazepine use within prisons and assessing the potential harm to individuals is challenging due to the lack of available analytical data on the substances circulating. Increasingly, materials, such as paper and clothing, infused with novel benzodiazepines have been identified as a smuggling route into Scottish prisons.

This can be particularly problematic for samples that alarm for fentanyl. In this study, fentanyl immunoassay strips were evaluated for use as a secondary test for fentanyl, including for the testing of alternative matrices, such as powders, e-liquids, and infused papers and textiles.

Objectives: The aims of this study were to describe the prevalence of scoliosis and identify risk factors for its development in a large cohort of adults with open and closed SB.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of data from 580 adults with SB attending their first consultation at a French multidisciplinary referral centre for SB.
The large volume of information available within citation databases has become a challenge to manage and distil in all areas of research. In this study, a scientometric approach has been applied to fibres as an evidence type using information contained in Scopus and Web of Science. A comparison was also made with the references listed in the INTERPOL International Forensic Science Managers Symposium Science (IFSMS) reports (2004-2019) where only a limited number of documents were common with the citation databases, illustrating the value of the IFSMS reports.

In vivo, ACPAs target peptidyl-citrulline epitopes (cit-) in a variety of proteins (cit-prot-ACPAs) and derived peptides (cit-pept-ACPAs) generated via the peptidylarginine deiminase (PAD) isoenzymes. We aimed to identify a cell line with self-citrullination capacity, to describe its autoantigenic citrullinome, and to test it as a source of autocitrullinated proteins and peptides.

Here, we present the results of five individual researchers who implemented the universal experimental protocol for the first time. Over 2500 images were collected, computationally analysed and statistically compared.

In this way PdCu nanoparticles are generated by initial complexation of Pd to a SAM of 3-(4-(pyridine-4-yl)phenyl)propane-1-thiol (PyP3) on Au/mica and subsequent reduction in an acidic aqueous CuSO electrolyte. Cyclic voltammetry reveals that the onset of Cu deposition is triggered by Pd reduction.

While this interaction has been studied in great detail on metal oxide semiconductors, not much is known of Au particles on top of polymeric semiconductors. The effects of gold nanoparticle size and dispersion on top of g-C3N4 were studied by core and valence level spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy in addition to catalytic tests.

There is no adherence and satisfaction evaluation scale for children who are using self or hetero CIC. The aim of this article is to study the feasibility of using InCaSaQ (Intermittent Catheterization Satisfaction Questionnaire) and ICAS (Intermittent Catheterization Adherence Scale) in children, and to validate the first steps.

Here we show that contrary to general belief, exsolved particles do not necessarily re-dissolve back into the underlying perovskite upon oxidation. Instead, they may remain pinned to their initial locations, allowing one to subject them to further chemical transformations to alter their composition, structure and functionality dramatically, while preserving their initial spatial arrangement.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the French spina bifida network database. Patients who underwent implantation of an artificial urinary sphincter from January 1985 to November 2015 were selected and stratified into 2 groups according to cuff location, that is bladder neck vs bulbar urethra.
Background: Although care of urological disorders in spina bifida is well established, there is yet no agreement on a standardized approach to bowel dysfunction in this population.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess bowel dysfunction using validated instruments and the risk factors in adults with spina bifida.
Design: A multidisciplinary team prospectively collected patient data, focusing on anorectal and urological symptoms.
Aims: The prevalence rate of severe fecal incontinence (FI) in adults with spina bifida (SB) is high. The physiological basis of FI in SB has not been clearly established, which contributes to inadequate care. The aim was to better characterize a large cohort of adults with special consideration of anorectal physiology.

The efficacy of intradetrusor injections of botulinum toxin has been confirmed in patients with spinal cord injury or multiple sclerosis but not in patients with myelomeningocele.
Objective: To conduct a systematic review of current evidence regarding the efficacy of intra-detrusor injections of Botulinum Toxin A (BTX-A) in spina bifida patients with neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) refractory to antimuscarinics.
Background: Age, C-Reactive Protein (CRP) and autoantibodies (Abs) are associated with worse prognosis in patients with recent-onset inflammatory polyarthritis (EPA). Serum 14-3-3η protein is a joint-derived biomarker that up-regulates cytokines and enzymes that perpetuate local and systemic inflammation and may contribute to joint damage. Our objective was to evaluate, over a 5-year prospective period of observation, the additional prognostic potential of serum 14-3-3η protein in EPA patients.

Recent studies indicate that this breach extends to homocitrullination of lysines with the formation of anti-carbamylated protein (anti-CarP) antibodies. We analyzed the clinical and serologic relationships of anti-CarP in 2 RA cohorts.

For catalytic applications, metal particles are generally formed on an oxide support by physical or chemical deposition, or less commonly by exsolution from it. Although fundamentally different, both methods might be assumed to produce morphologically and functionally similar particles.

Loading of a co-catalyst on the surface of a semiconductor photocatalyst is often carried out without considering the effect of the loading procedure on the final product. The present study looks in detail at the effect that the loading method has on the morphology and final composition of platinum-based nanoparticles by means of XPS and TEM analysis. Additionally, reduction pre-treatments are performed to investigate how the coverage, crystallinity and composition of the NPs affect the photocatalytic H2 evolution.
