MicroRNAs are small noncoding nucleotides that serve as intracellular and extracellular signaling molecules. A previous collaboration found miR-127/3p circulation in the blood of breast cancer patients correlated with improved patient recovery and prognosis. While this study exclusively focused on breast cancer patients, data mining of the TCGA databases indicated that miR-127/3p may be positively associated with outcomes in other cancer types.

Engaging evaluation champions: strategies to build evaluation capacity and promote data-informed decision making in youth development.

Youth development researchers and practitioners share an interest in ensuring that youth development programs contribute positively to youth outcomes. Engaging in evaluation and data-informed decision making (DIDM) has the potential to empower practitioners to improve and adapt programs, improving youth outcomes. Yet, not all practitioners are comfortable engaging in evaluation and/or DIDM.

Antimicrobial susceptibilities of report from a reference laboratory.

Unlabelled: is known to cause human disease, particularly in elderly and immunocompromised hosts. There are limited published data for antimicrobial susceptibility patterns with this organism, and no interpretive criteria are available. We reviewed antimicrobial susceptibilities of isolates tested at a tertiary care center and reference laboratory over an 11-year period.

Oteseconazole for the Treatment of Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: A Drug Review.

Objective: The objective of the study is to describe and analyze the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of oteseconazole as well as the clinical evidence supporting the efficacy of oteseconazole in treating recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC).

Data Sources: A literature search was conducted using MEDLINE and EMBASE databases (2015-June 2023). Search terms included "oteseconazole" OR "VT-1161" or "VIVJOA" AND "RVVC" or "recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis" or "vulvovaginal candidiasis.

Describing the decision process of post-operative opioid and pain prescribing patterns in orthopedic and general surgeons.

Objective: To describe the post-operative opioid prescribing behaviors of orthopedic and general surgeons through the use of the Integrated Behavioral Model (IBM), and subsequently the steps and logic used by providers in determining post-operative pain prescriptions.

Design: This study was a prospective, cross-sectional, cohort study utilizing qualitative methods consisting of semistructured interviews. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to categorize and identify themes to describe prescriber behavior.

Chop, DelRio, and GrandSlam are phage with a morphotype isolated from soil in Arkansas using the host Gordonia terrae 3612. All three are temperate, and their genomes share at least 96% nucleotide identity. These phage are assigned to cluster DI based on gene content similarity to other sequenced actinobacteriophage.

A Community Pharmacist's Guide to Oral COVID-19 Antivirals.

The recent approval of novel, oral antivirals for the treatment of COVID-19 has significantly altered the outpatient management of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. From a community pharmacy perspective, the two treatment options for mild to moderate COVID-19 are Paxlovid™ (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir) and Lagevrio™ (molnupiravir). While the availability of these antivirals has expanded community pharmacists' capability to provide care for patients diagnosed with COVID-19, many community pharmacists may struggle to effectively operationalize these agents in practice.

Researchers continue to explore ways to understand and promote pro-environmental behavior (PEB) amongst various populations. Despite this shared goal, much debate exists on the operationalization and the dimensionality of PEB and how it is measured. This piecemeal approach to measurement has limited the ability to draw conclusions across studies.

"Pick your team wisely": A case study of a long-standing research-practice partnership.

Research-practice partnerships (RPP) provide opportunities to connect researchers, practitioners, and/or community development professionals in meaningful ways, thereby improving the quality of research, evaluation, and practice in communities. Yet, there is still much to learn about how successful partnerships between researchers and practitioners develop. Historically, research on this topic has emphasized challenges that prevent RPP from developing to their highest potential, with limited information available on ways to promote RPP and how to ensure RPP are mutually beneficial for participants.

Improving Pharmacy Students' Clinical Knowledge on Providing Care for Patients Belonging to the LGBTQ+ Community.

A 12-question survey instrument was developed, pilot-tested, and administered to 191 pharmacy students in their first professional year after engaging in a learning activity focusing on topics across five categories with clinical relevance to providing care to the LGBTQ+ community. A paired student t-test was performed on survey tool pre-test and post-test survey responses, with p < 0.05 considered significant.

Primary care physicians' opioid-related prevention behaviors and intentions: A descriptive analysis.

Objective: Primary care physicians (PCPs) are positioned to mitigate opioid morbidity and mortality, but their engagement in primary, secondary, and tertiary opioid-related prevention behaviors is unclear. The objective of this study was to evaluate Tennessee PCPs' engagement in and intention to engage in multiple opioid-related prevention behaviors.

Methods: A survey instrument was developed, pretested, and pilot tested with practicing PCPs.

In this context, students need to be incentivized to do preclass preparation, thus ensuring they are ready for team-based learning, via graded readiness assurance tests (RATs). Broadening the perspective on youth's systems of support: An ecological examination of supportive peer and adult relationships during adolescence.

This study applies the theory of positive youth development (Lerner et al., 2010) and the youth systems framework (Varga & Zaff, 2018) to the examination of supportive peer and adult relationships across multiple contexts in which youth develop. Results of egocentric social network analysis indicated that high school-aged youth nominated significantly more adults than middle school-aged youth.

Quality is Critical for Meaningful Synthesis of Afterschool Program Effects: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Afterschool programs are designed to promote academic achievement and youth development as well as mitigate risk for students who attend. Systematic reviews have reported that afterschool programs are associated with increased academic proficiency, school bonding, prosocial behavior, and decreased problem behavior. However, the majority of meta-analyses that report on these outcomes limit their samples to only rigorously conducted studies, which is not representative of the larger literature base.

Visual Prognosis after Explantation of a Corneal Shape-Changing Hydrogel Inlay in Presbyopic Eyes.

The purpose of this case series is to report visual outcomes in patients who underwent explantation of the Raindrop® hydrogel corneal inlay. Retrospective chart review comprising four cases of explantation of the Raindrop® corneal shape-changing hydrogel inlay: pre-implantation, pre-explantation, and post-explantation values for uncorrected distance visual acuity, uncorrected near visual acuity, and corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) were measured; keratometric and tomographic data were collected using the Pentacam system (Oculus, Inc). Three eyes were explanted for progressive haze after implantation that persisted even after removal; one eye was explanted due to poor visual acuity with no haze formation.

This is a retrospective case series conducted at a single site in Draper, Utah, USA (Hoopes Vision). "It's like all of his attention is on you": A mixed methods examination of attachment, supportive nonparental youth-adult relationships, and self-esteem during adolescence.

The purpose of this mixed methods study was to examine the relationship between attachment, supportive nonparental youth-adult relationships, and self-esteem during adolescence. First, in a quantitative path analysis, we found that perceived social support from nonparental adults partially mediated the relationship between adolescent attachment and self-esteem. In our follow-up mixed methods analysis, we analyzed youth reflections of support experienced in relationships with significant non-parental adults (VIPs).

Postoperative Outcome of the Modified Broström Procedure in the Active Duty Military Population: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Ankle sprains are common injuries and typically treated conservatively. Chronic ankle instability, however, can require surgery when nonoperative measures fail. We evaluated the clinical outcomes of an active duty population in a retrospective study of patients who had undergone a modified Broström procedure at our facility from January 2010 through April 2014 by a single surgeon.

Three-Year Analysis of Value and Utilization After Development of an Ultrasound-Based Orthopedic Injection Clinic.

Introduction: Sonography is an effective method of diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions, and the use of ultrasound has been shown to improve the accuracy, safety, and efficacy of both therapeutic and diagnostic injections. In 2012, we established an injection clinic at our institution to address our growing need for diagnostic and therapeutic injections.
