- This study investigated how encapsulated nitrate products (ENP) and monensin (MON) affect enteric methane (CH4) emissions and rumen fermentation.
- Six different treatments were tested using a mix of Tifton-85 hay and a concentrate of corn and soybean meal, altering ENP and MON levels without noticeable interaction between them.
- Findings revealed that while ENP significantly reduced CH4 production, neither ENP nor MON affected organic matter degradation or methanogen levels, indicating that ENP alone is effective for CH4 reduction without enhancing the effect of MON.
Ectoparasitic infestation in dairy cattle, the most common being Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus, causes significant loss in production. The control of ectoparasites often occurs incorrectly, resulting in resistance to the active ingredients and residues in milk. To understand of acaricide use in the microregion of Alfenas, Minas Gerais (Brazil), questionnaires were applied to the owners of 100 dairy farms in the region and were selected randomly.
