Supporting young adults experiencing psychosis with their employment: A qualitative exploration of occupational therapists' experiences.

Introduction: Young adults experiencing psychosis have the same plans for work and future careers as their peers; however, many find themselves unable to participate. While there is research available about interventions used to support employment of young adults with psychosis, there is little evidence regarding the experience of occupational therapists working in this field and the vocational rehabilitation interventions and practices they use.

Methods: A descriptive qualitative study using semi-structured interviews was used to explore the perspectives of occupational therapy practitioners who support young adults experiencing psychosis with employment.

Exploring mental health consumer experiences of the strengths model of case management: A phenomenological study.

The strengths of model of case management is a recovery-oriented model of community mental health care that has been linked to positive consumer outcomes. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore the consumer perspective of the strengths model of case management using a descriptive phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth, semi-structured interviews.

Mental health consumer perspectives of a person-centred multidisciplinary care planning meeting on a rehabilitation inpatient unit.

Mental health consumers are seeking genuine involvement in the planning regarding their treatment and care; however for many consumers in inpatient mental health settings, there is not the opportunity to participate. Current research evaluating person-centred multidisciplinary care planning initiatives in inpatient settings from the consumer perspective is limited. The aim of this study was to explore the consumer perspective of a person-centred multidisciplinary care planning meeting implemented in an Australian inpatient mental health rehabilitation unit.

A Scoping and Systematic Review of Employment Processes and Outcomes for Young Adults Experiencing Psychosis.

Young adults who experience psychosis want to work but are less likely to be employed than their peers. Sixty two studies relating to young adults with psychosis and employment were reviewed following a systematic search of five databases: CINAHL, PsycINFO, MEDLINE, SCOPUS and EMBASE. Publication date ranged from 1973 to 2019 with > 70% between 2010 and 2019.
