Objective: Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a significant health concern that may lead to critical medical care and impaired quality of life. The aim of the present study was to identify the clinical indicators of common causes of HMB in adolescents and evaluate the factors influencing the treatment preferences of clinicians.
Methods: Between 2010 and 2022, the electronic medical records of adolescents between the ages of 10-18 with HMB were reviewed, and a final of 205 adolescents was included.
Background: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) characterized by cyclic symptoms during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, presents an uncertain etiology in adolescents involving hormonal fluctuations and serotonin-related neurotransmitters with a limited existing literature on the impact of oxidative stress. This study aimed to explore the potential association between PMS and oxidative stress in adolescents.
Methods: In a cross-sectional study conducted at a university hospital, involving 45 adolescent girls aged 12 to 18, participants were categorized based on the presence or absence of PMS using the cut-off point of 110 on the PMS Scale developed by Gençdoğan.
Purpose: There is a scarcity of information regarding the health consequences of chest binding and its effects on pulmonary functions (PFs). This study aimed to evaluate binding practices, physical outcomes, and effects on PFs of trans or gender diverse (TGD) youth who bind.
Methods: The TGD and control groups underwent pulmonary function tests (PFTs), with the TGD group undergoing testing both with their binder and after removal.

Background: One of the most commonly experienced symptoms of premenstrual disorder (PMD) is anxiety, and there is a notable rise in sympathomimetic activity in this patient group. Studies have linked fluctuations in systemic autonomic tone to electrocardiography (ECG) changes. This study aims to investigate the relationship between anxiety, a common symptom of PMD, and alterations in QT dispersion (QTd) and P-wave dispersion (Pd) in adolescent females.

PMS significantly affects the social and academic lives of adolescents, and historically, it has been neglected by healthcare professionals. We aimed to evaluate the current point prevalence of PMS in Turkish adolescents presented to a tertiary adolescent medicine clinic.

Methods: PCOS patients from the same institution were divided into two groups according to age and clinic (adolescents diagnosed in the adolescent medicine clinic and young adults diagnosed in the obstetrics and gynecology clinic).
Several factors may contribute to binge eating behaviors in PCOS. However, findings are contradictory and studies in the adolescence are limited. We aimed to evaluate the eating attitudes of adolescents with PCOS and the possible etiological factors underlying the association between PCOS and binge eating symptomology.

The objective of this subsequent study was to conduct a follow-up evaluation of the same cohort and investigate the consequences of the prolonged pandemic.
Methods: This longitudinal study was conducted one year after the first study between May 2021 and June 2021 with 37 adolescents aged 12-18 years (pre-existing EDs).
Objective: While menstrual irregularities are acknowledged in restrictive-type eating disorders (EDs), the menstrual characteristics specific to atypical anorexia nervosa (AAN) remain inadequately defined. This study aims to compare the menstrual features of anorexia nervosa (AN) and AAN.
Method: Adolescents diagnosed with AN or AAN who exhibited secondary amenorrhoea at presentation and had their menstrual cycles restored during follow-up were eligible for this study.
Adolescent bone health may be negatively impacted by problematic video gaming (PVG) due to factors such as prolonged screen time, poor sleep quality, and increased depression. Although sedentary behaviors have been linked to decreased bone mass, there is limited research on how PVG impacts bone health. We aimed to evaluate the association between PVG and bone mineral density (BMD) in adolescents by comparing the BMD z-scores of adolescents with and without PVG and by identifying PVG-related risk factors that may affect low BMD scores.

Adolescents may find it challenging to seek counseling or access adolescent-friendly services for menstruation-related problems, so YouTube may be a useful resource. The aim of this study was to examine the reliability, quality, and accuracy of YouTube videos concerning abnormal uterine bleeding in adolescents.

Distorted body image perception, dissatisfaction and preoccupation with weight and shape are often key factors in the development and maintenance of these disorders. Although the pathophysiological mechanism of body image disorder is not yet fully understood, aberrant biological processes may interfere with perceptive, cognitive and emotional aspects of body image.

Aim: The aim of this study was to identify the prevalence of undetected eating disorders (EDs) among adolescent psychiatric inpatients and to investigate the association between clinical, psychiatric, and sociocultural factors and EDs.
Methods: Between January and December 2018, patients aged 12-18 years, hospitalized for inpatient-level treatment were given the self-assessment questionnaires of the Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26), the Contour Drawing Figure Rating Scale (CDFRS), the Child Behaviour Check List, and Sociocultural Attitudes Toward Appearance Questionnaire-4 after their routine unstructured clinical diagnostic assessment on admission by a psychiatrist. Patients were reassessed after reviewing the psychometric assessment results.
Study Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the experience and quality of life (QoL) related to menstruation in adolescents with a genetic syndrome accompanying intellectual disability (ID).
Methods: This prospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 49 adolescents with a genetic syndrome accompanied by ID, which was defined by the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised, and 50 unaffected controls. In a survey created by the authors, demographic information, menstrual history, and information regarding menstrual difficulties, school abstinence, dysmenorrhea, and premenstrual changes were collected.

Aim: The study aimed to assess changes in adolescent visits due to eating disorders (EDs) during the pandemic.
Method: A retrospective evaluation of adolescents diagnosed with an ED during two periods: June 2019-February 2020 (pre-pandemic) and June 2021-February 2022 (during the pandemic) at an adolescent medicine clinic in Tukey was conducted. The number of patients diagnosed with an ED between these dates was compared with the number of overall attended outpatient appointments.
Background: Pregabalin is an inhibitor of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and can be abused, especially by polydrug abuser adults. Drug abuse is one of the many risky behaviors that can be seen during adolescence. Here, three adolescents with pregabalin abuse were described.

Sociodemographic factors might have a direct effect, or they might be associated with other potential causal factors such as access, perceived severity, and convenience. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the factors that might have an effect on nonurgent PED visits and parental overestimation of emergency severity.
