Opioid abuse has plagued the United States, with a resurgence since the early 2000s. Governmental agencies, pharmaceutical companies, patients, and physicians have all contributed to this crisis. Severe pain has been reported following foot and ankle surgery.

Combined Osseous Medial Cuneonavicular Coalition and Nonosseous Naviculocuboid Coalition Presenting as First Metatarsophalangeal Joint Pain.

Tarsal coalitions of the lesser tarsus are relatively rare congenital anomalies. A case report of a 54-year-old man with an osseous medial cuneonavicular coalition and a nonosseous naviculocuboid coalition that presented as first metatarsophalangeal joint pain is described.

Isolated Fracture of the Medial Cuneiform.

An isolated medial cuneiform fracture is a rarely encountered injury of the foot. We present a case of an isolated medial cuneiform fracture in a patient after sustaining a fall from a 15-foot height. Treatment consisted of primary arthrodesis of the first tarsometatarsal joint due to a high degree of comminution and intra-articular pain.

Combined Total Ankle Arthroplasty With Posterior Tibial Tendon Transfer for End-Stage Cavovarus Deformity.

Posterior tibial tendon transfer has been described to reduce and balance the cavovarus deformity in those patients who receive a total ankle replacement for end-stage arthritis. In this article, we discuss the indications and provide a detailed description of the technique for this powerful procedure. Case examples that demonstrate the utility of the procedure are provided.
