Background And Aim: Different side effects, including infections, are encountered in patients receiving anticytokines used for the treatment of severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The aim of this study was to evaluate the infections and the effects of these infections that develop in this patient group.
Materials And Methods: This study included 208 patients who were followed-up with the diagnosis of severe COVID-19 in two different hospitals.
Background: Frailty indicates older people who are vulnerable to stressors. The relation between ultrasonographic parameters of muscle and frailty among older people has yet to be investigated.
Aims: The aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between frailty and the ultrasonographic measurements of the rectus femoris muscle (RFM).
Rationale And Objectives: To investigate the correlation between quantitative parameters obtained by dual energy spectral computed tomography (DESCT) and various histopathological factors and biomarkers associated with the prognosis of breast cancer.
Materials And Methods: Quantitative parameters such as iodine content (IC), normalized IC (nIC), iodine enhancement (IE) and normalized IE (nIE) were measured on virtual monochromatic images and iodine mapping images obtained from DESCT in 116 female breast cancer patients. The relationship between these parameters and prognostic biomarkers such as estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status and Ki67 levels, as well as the correlation with histological grade (HG), lymphovascular invasion (LVI), and metastatic axillary lymphadenopathy (LAP) were evaluated.
Introduction: Hyponatremia is the most common electrolyte disorder often present in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the effect of hyponatremia on mortality in patients undergoing PD.
Methods: The health records of adult individuals with an inserted PD catheter identified via the centralized national e-health database were used.
Purpose: Skeletal muscle ultrasonography stands out as a promising method for detecting sarcopenia. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between sarcopenia, sarcopenia related quality of life and US findings of the Rectus Femoris muscle.
Methods: A total of 300 older individuals were included in this cross-sectional study.
Objective: Cesarean section (CS) rates continue to rise globally because of various factors. Medically unnecessary cesarean operations have no benefit to the mother or child's health. Since the World Health Organization (WHO) has determined that the acceptable CS rate should not be more than 10-15%, it also stated the use of a classification system to compare different patient groups and facilities.

Methods: We used a geocode standard, nomenclature of territorial units for statistics (NUTS), and a total of 1588 community-acquired isolates of 20 centres from 12 different NUTS regions between March 2019 and March 2020 were analysed.
Results: Of the 1588 culture growths, 1269 (79.
Background: Assessing the validity and clinical utility of axillary ultrasonography (AUS)-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) in detection of nodal metastasis during preoperative axillary investigation in comparison to the histopathologic diagnosis in early-stage breast cancer.
Methods: A total of 279 operated primary breast cancer patients (age: 55.3 ± 12.
Objectives: To investigate the value of measuring the diaphragm thickness (DT) on thorax computed tomography (CT) at intensive care unit (ICU) admission for predicting intubation requirement and mortality among COVID-19 patients.
Methods: This study was carried out in Ankara City Hospital, Ankara, Turkey, from September 2020 to January 2021, with 94 critical COVID-19 patients. The patients' demographic characteristics, laboratory parameters, DT measurements, mechanical ventilation (MV) requirements, and mortality statuses were retrospectively screened.
Purpose: Malnutrition-sarcopenia syndrome (MSS) describes the presence of sarcopenia and malnutrition together. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between MSS and all-cause mortality at two years in hospitalised older Turkish people.
Methods: This is a bi-centered prospective cohort study conducted in older individuals in hospital settings (University hospital and research, research and training hospital).
Introduction: Although substance use has increased in recent years in Turkey, it is still lower than in other European countries. Turkey is home to the largest Syrian refugee population. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the prevalence of tobacco, alcohol, and substance use among local people living in city centers and refugees living in refugee camps in Şanlıurfa.
