Successful implementation of an osseointegration program requires a skilled and committed interdisciplinary team engaged in supporting patients and their families throughout the OI process. The roles and responsibilities of clinical and ancillary team members are described in detail, along with a discussion of the needed patient and family support resources. Time spent developing the interdisciplinary team, with strong regulatory support and engagement of hospital administration and the health system, will promote higher patient satisfaction and outcomes and innovative future directions.

Depression is a prevalent mental health condition in the United States and a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. The treatment guidelines for depression recommends either psychotherapy, such as behavioral activation (BA), or a second-generation antidepressant as a first-line treatment for adult patients with depression. However, many individuals with depression do not experience improvement from first-line treatments or choose not to engage in them due to stigma, cost, difficulty with access, and/or side effects.

Background: Aromatase inhibitors (AIs) are a cornerstone of adjuvant systemic therapy for postmenopausal patients with hormone-receptor positive (HR+) breast cancer. Although AIs decrease cancer recurrence rates and improve survival rates, approximately 50 % of patients experience arthralgia-persistent pain related to worse patient outcomes and poor AI adherence. Current medical interventions for AI-associated arthralgia have limited efficacy and side effects that restrict their use among older patients.

Spin defects embedded in solid-state systems are appealing for quantum sensing of materials and for quantum science and engineering. The spin-sensitive photoluminescence of optically active spin defects in Van der Waals based materials, such as the boron-vacancy (V_{B}^{-}) center in hexagonal boron nitride, enables its application as a quantum sensor to detect weak, spatially localized magnetic static and dynamic fields. However, the utility of V_{B}^{-} centers to probe spin dynamics in magnetic systems has yet to be demonstrated; this is essential to establish the V_{B}^{-} as a modular sensing platform that can be seamlessly integrated with emergent quantum materials to probe a wide range of static and dynamic phenomena.

Bioelectric signals possess the ability to robustly control and manipulate patterning during embryogenesis and tissue-level regeneration. Synaptic transmission mediated by GABAA receptors (GABAARs) in adult, principal striatal spiny projection neurons (SPNs) can suppress ongoing spiking, but its effect on synaptic integration at subthreshold membrane potentials is less well characterized, particularly those near the resting down-state. To fill this gap, a combination of molecular, optogenetic, optical, and electrophysiological approaches were used to study SPNs in mouse ex vivo brain slices, and computational tools were used to model somatodendritic synaptic integration. In perforated patch recordings, activation of GABAARs, either by uncaging of GABA or by optogenetic stimulation of GABAergic synapses, evoked currents with a reversal potential near -60 mV in both juvenile and adult SPNs.

Current US Food and Drug Administration-approved chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells harbor the T cell receptor (TCR)-derived ζ chain as an intracellular activation domain in addition to costimulatory domains. Citric acid, an important metabolite with abundant reactive groups, has been demonstrated as a promising starting material to synthesize diverse photoluminescent materials including small molecules, polymers, and carbon dots. The unique citrate chemistry enables the development of a series of citric acid-based molecules and nanomaterials with intriguing intrinsic band-shifting behavior, where the emission wavelength shifts as the excitation wavelength increases, ideal for chromatic imaging and many other applications. In this review, we discuss the concept of "intrinsic band-shifting photoluminescent materials", introduce the recent advances in citric acid-based intrinsic band-shifting materials, and discuss their potential applications such as chromatic imaging and multimodal sensing.

Objective: The interactions among hepatitis C virus (HCV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and the ongoing injection drug epidemic have created a syndemic that significantly affects the Appalachian region of the United States. The purpose of this work is to describe a successful Kentucky program that aimed to increase HCV and HIV testing for people visiting an urban emergency department (ED) who were screened, diagnosed, and linked to care after diagnosis with special consideration for substance use disorder.
