Cisplatin is one of the metal containing drugs for the solid cancer treatments. However, its side-effects limit its application in the cancer treatment. Stem cell therapy is a promising treatment for the tissue damage caused by the chemotherapeutic agents, like cisplatin.

Objective: The aim of our study is to examine the effects of neonatal tactile stimulations on the brain structures that previously defined as the focus of epilepsy in the Wistar-Albino-Glaxo from Rijswijk (WAG/Rij) rat brain with genetic absence epilepsy.

Methods: In the present research, morphology and density of dendritic spines were analyzed in layer V pyramidal neurons of the somatosensory cortex (SoCx) of WAG/Rij rats (nonstimulated control, tactile-stimulated, and maternal separated rats) and healthy Wistar (nonepileptic) rats. To achieve this, a Golgi-Cox method was used.

Objective: Studies on ischemia/reperfusion injury remain the focus of interest. Ticagrelor and enoxaparin, which are antiaggregant and anticoagulant drugs developed for use in many cardiovascular pathologies, are still included in many ischemia/reperfusion studies. Remarkably, their new protective effects, especially with regard to ticagrelor, continue to be reported in the current literature.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the effects of corneal cross-linking (CXL) and a matrix-regenerating agent (RGTA) on rabbits with alkali-burned corneas, focusing on recovery metrics over three weeks.
  • Results showed that while both treatments improved epithelial healing and reduced neovascularization, RGTA had notably less ulceration compared to the control group.
  • Histopathological analysis indicated that CXL and RGTA were more effective at addressing tissue damage than the control group, suggesting both therapies could be beneficial in treating corneal injuries, though more research is needed for optimization.

Background/aim: Methotrexate (MTX), widely used as a drug in cancer, has many adverse effects on tissues. Apocynin (APO) is a NADPH oxidase inhibitor and is known with many antioxidant properties. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the adverse effects of MTX on testicular tissue and the protective effects of APO at two different doses (20 mg/kg and 50 mg/kg) on MTX-induced testicular damage.

Objectives: This study was conducted to reveal the possible protective effects of ticagrelor and enoxaparin pretreatment against ischemia-reperfusion (IR)-induced injury on the lung tissue of a rat model.

Methods: Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into 4 groups as follows: group-1 (control-sham), group-2 (control-saline+IR), group-3 (ticagrelor+IR), group-4 (enoxaparin+IR). Before the ischemic period, saline, ticagrelor, and enoxaparin were administered to the 2nd-4th groups, respectively.

In this study, we investigated the protective effect of pentoxifilline (PTX) on smoking-induced damage in rat kidney tissues. Twenty-seven male Wistar rats were used in the study. Animals were divided into three equal groups as follows: Group 1: control group with only normal saline (NS; 0.
