Nurses are frequently exposed to trauma both inside and outside of the hospital setting. This trauma exposure may lead to symptoms that can be harmful to the nurse and make it more difficult for them to provide quality care to patients. Trauma-informed professional development is a strategy that can help nursing professional development practitioners create an environment where recovery after trauma is possible.
