Objective: The study objectives were: 1) to detect early signs of low muscle function and assess sarcopenic obesity (SO) prevalence in patients with obesity; and 2) to introduce a new online diagnostic tool for scoring handgrip strength (HGS), adjusted for age and sex.

Methods: Patients from the OBESAR cohort (184 men and 499 women) were tested for body composition and functional testing (chair stand test or HGS based on the cutoffs from the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism [ESPEN]/European Association for the Study of Obesity [EASO] or adjusted HGS [adHGS] based on reference values), and SO prevalence was calculated accordingly.

Results: Among the 683 patients (mean [SD], age 42.

Importance: Sarcopenia and obesity are 2 global concerns associated with adverse health outcomes in older people. Evidence on the population-based prevalence of the combination of sarcopenia with obesity (sarcopenic obesity [SO]) and its association with mortality are still limited.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of sarcopenia and SO and their association with all-cause mortality.

Independently of absolute BMI values, the amount, onset date, and duration of early body weight gain may influence cardio-metabolic health later in adulthood. Values of cardiac and metabolic variables from a cohort study of morbidly obese patients were retrospectively analyzed to study the association between early weight history and metabolic syndrome (MetS) occurrence in adults. Of 950 patients with severe morbid obesity (age 44.

The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns modified work environments, lifestyles, and food consumption. Eating habits and mood changes in a French population during the first lockdown were examined using an online self-reported questionnaire with REDCap software through the COVISTRESS.ORG website.

Background: Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients have a poor prognosis, and curcumin is known to have antineoplastic properties. On the basis of previous phase I and phase II studies, we investigated whether the association of curcumin with docetaxel could improve prognosis among mCRPC patients.

Methods: A total of 50 mCRPC patients (included from June 2014 to July 2016) treated with docetaxel in association with oral curcumin (6 g/d for 7 days every 3 weeks) versus placebo were included in this double-blind, randomized, phase II study.

Objective: Young breast cancer (BC) patients receiving chemotherapy are at risk of chemotherapy-induced menopause (CIM). We sought to define the incidence rate of premature menopause after chemotherapy and to retrospectively investigate factors related to the onset of menopause.

Methods: We identified BC patients who had received chemotherapy at the Cancer Center (Centre Jean-Perrin).

The therapeutic activity of drugs can be optimized by establishing an individualized dosage, based on the measurement of the drug concentration in the serum, particularly if the drugs are characterized by an inter-individual variation in pharmacokinetics that results in an under- or overexposure to treatment. In recent years, several tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been developed to block intracellular signaling pathways in tumor cells. These oral drugs are candidates for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) due to their high inter-individual variability for therapeutic and toxic effects.

Objectives: Favorable phase I results justified this pilot phase II study to assess the efficacy of docetaxel/curcumin in patients with chemotherapy-naive metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC).

Methods: Thirty patients with progressing CRPC and a rising prostate-specific antigen (PSA) received docetaxel/prednisone in standard conditions for 6 cycles in combination with per os curcumin, 6,000 mg/day (day -4 to day +2 of docetaxel). The co-primary endpoint was the overall response rate determined by PSA and target assessments.

Background: Ageing is associated with decrease in tissue glutathione that can be reduced by food fortification with the amino acid cysteine. However, cysteine is not stable in solution and generates bad taste. Cystathionine, the direct precursor of cysteine, could be a valuable alternative.

Background: Everolimus (Afinitor®) plus exemestane are indicated for hormone receptor-positive, HER2/neu-negative metastatic breast cancer (MBC), in menopausal women without symptomatic visceral disease after recurrence or progression following aromatase inhibitors. But everolimus efficacy as late treatment has not been explored.

Methods: Sixty-three MBC patients progressing under hormonotherapy (HT; n = 30) or after chemotherapy (CT; n = 32) received everolimus plus HT (EHT) and were analyzed for safety, efficacy and overall survival (OS).
