Understanding the Health and Health-Related Social Needs of Youth Experiencing Homelessness: A Photovoice Study.

Purpose: Homelessness is a major public health problem facing millions of youths across the United States (U.S.), with lesbian gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ+) youths and youths of color being disproportionately at higher risk.

Project ECHO COVID-19: Vulnerable Populations and Telehealth Early in the Pandemic.

Introduction/objectives: Project ECHO COVID-19 was launched nationwide on March 4, 2020 to disseminate guidance about COVID-19 in a timely and scalable manner to meet the urgent needs of primary care settings, the first line of defense in a pandemic.

Methods: Data from post-session surveys were analyzed to assess participant satisfaction, knowledge gaps, change in knowledge, and anticipated changes in practice as a result of Project ECHO COVID-19. A content analysis was conducted of the 243 questions and concerns posted by over 2000 participants in the Question and Answer function of Zoom during the first 8 sessions (March 4-April 29, 2020).

A National Study of Community Health Centers' Readiness to Address COVID-19.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak poses serious health risks, particularly for older adults and persons with underlying chronic medical conditions. Community health centers (CHCs) serve as the patient medical home for populations that are disproportionately more susceptible to COVID-19; yet, there is a lack of understanding of current efforts in place by CHCs to prepare for and respond to the pandemic.

Methods: We used a comprehensive cross-sectional survey and focus groups with health care personnel to understand the needs and current efforts in place by CHCs, and we derived themes from the focus group data.

Patient-Reported Outcomes for Determining Prognostic Groups in Veterans With Advanced Cancer.

Context: Physicians overestimate survival in patients with advanced cancer. Patient-reported outcomes could provide another way to estimate survival. We previously reported four prognostic groups based on Karnofsky Performance Status, Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy physical well-being subscale, and Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale-Short Form physical symptom distress subscale scores.

Novel E3 ubiquitin ligases that regulate histone protein levels in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Core histone proteins are essential for packaging the genomic DNA into chromatin in all eukaryotes. Since multiple genes encode these histone proteins, there is potential for generating more histones than what is required for chromatin assembly. The positively charged histones have a very high affinity for negatively charged molecules such as DNA, and any excess of histone proteins results in deleterious effects on genomic stability and cell viability.
