Most of Earth's diamonds are connected with deep-seated mantle rocks; however, in recent years, μm-sized diamonds have been found in shallower metamorphic rocks, and the process of shallow-seated diamond formation has become a hotly debated topic. Nanodiamonds occur mainly in chondrite meteorites associated with organic matter and water. They can be synthesized in the stability field of graphite from organic compounds under hydrothermal conditions.

An improved method of determining parameters of the dynamic susceptibility from the Raman spectra is described. The nine spectral parameters (the intensity, the frequency and the width of the two oscillators, the intensity and the width of the relaxation motion and the intensity of fluorescent background) completely describe the spectrum in the frequency range of 4 to 320 cm(-1).

The aims of the present work were to investigate the relationship between the early and late phases of contingent negative variation and the state of motor and mental functions in patients with Parkinson's disease and to study the effects of levodopa on contingent negative variation. Patients with Parkinson's disease showed significant decreases in the amplitudes and areas of both phases of contingent negative variation as compared with subjects of similar age.

MRT was conducted to 39 patients with adrenal glands tumors, including 22 - with malignant adrenal gland tumor, 17 - with benign tumor of adrenal gland. MRT constitutes the most effective method of topic diagnosis of the adrenal glands tumor, owes multipurpose possibilities, do not deliver radiation load, permits to visualize the vessels without the contrast media usage.

USI was conducted in 169 patients with SGT, including 95 with malignant tumors of suprarenal glands (MTSG) and 64--with benign SGT. USI constitutes the main method of screening, permitting to reveal SGT in 90.

CT was conducted in 157 patients with TAC, including 75--with malignant (MTAC), 82--with benign (BTAC), permitting to revealed MTAC in 76% patients. In 17.

The question of dependence of the contingent negative variation (CNV) on the regulating mechanisms of motor and mental functions is not sufficiently studied. The tasks of the present work were: to investigate the dependence of the CNV early and late phases on the state of motor and mental functions in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), and to elucidate the levodopa influence on the CNV parameters. 18 healthy subjects and 56 patients with PD were studied.

Cerebrolysin is a brain-derived peptide drug that increases the BBB-GLUT1 and MAP2 genes expression, thus exerting a neuroprotective effect. The present study aimed at investigating in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) influence of Cerebrolysin infusions (intravenously, 10 ml during 10 days) combined with levodopa treatment on the electroencephalographic (EEG) indices of brain activity: P300 potential, contingent negative variation (CNV) and recovery functions of the cortical auditory evoked potentials, which reflect the postexcitatory inhibition at the paired stimulation. Nineteen PD patients, mean age 61.

It also conducts heat even more effectively than copper, and can withstand very high electric fields. With these physical properties, diamond is attractive for electronic applications, particularly when charge carriers are introduced (by chemical doping) into the system.

A method for rapid isolation of C. diphtheriae and determination of its biovar is proposed. The method consists in the inoculation of the material under study into 5% blood agar, the determination of cystinase in the modified Pisou medium prepared from agar D with sodium hyposulfite added and the fermentation of starch in dishes with serum starch agar.

The method for enhancing the growth of meningococci after the inoculation of the specimens of nasopharyngeal mucus is proposed. The method is based on the diffusion of ristomycin into agar from ristomycin-impregnated filter paper strips. During the study of 694 specimens of nasopharyngeal mucus the above-mentioned method allowed isolation of 108 meningococcal cultures, while in serum agar only 21 cultures were isolated.
