The continuous increase of water distribution networks (WDNs) in size and complexity poses significant management challenges, including a high risk of failures. Due to the intrinsic interconnected feature of water flow, including losses, this study proposes a methodology based on graph correlation and multilayer network analysis for leak detection and localization in WDNs with multiple components (infrastructure, control devices, hydraulic sensors). The detection process involves correlating monitored data to create a temporal graph and classify vertices.

Background/objectives: The present work aimed to compare the effects of the standardized dry extract from the leaves of , popularly known as "espinheira-santa", with omeprazole in the management of dyspepsia related to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Methods: A double-blind, randomized, non-inferiority and double-dummy clinical trial was conducted. In total, 86 patients with GERD symptoms were randomized into three groups: Omeprazol (20 mg), (400 mg), or (860 mg).
Extracranial cerebrovascular disease has been the subject of intense research throughout the world, and is of paramount importance for vascular surgeons. This guideline, written by the Brazilian Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery (SBACV), supersedes the 2015 guideline. Non-atherosclerotic carotid artery diseases were not included in this document.

The available chemotherapeutic drugs present problems related to efficacy, emergence of parasite resistance, toxicity and high cost, justifying the search for new drugs. Several classes of compounds have demonstrated activity against Leishmania, including icetexane-type diterpenes, previously isolated from Salvia and other Lamiaceae genera.

We evaluated the impact of an Achyrocline satureioides inflorescence infusion on the clinical outcomes of viral respiratory infections, including those caused by SARS-CoV-2, in a monocentric, randomized, open-label, placebo-controlled clinical trial. Patients with symptoms of viral respiratory infection, including suspected cases of COVID-19, were included and assigned to receive either A. satureioides (n = 57) or Malus domestica (n = 67) infusions twice a day for 14 days.

Such roles largely depend, however, on two essential successional attributes, trajectory and recovery rate, which are expected to depend on landscape-scale forest cover in nonlinear ways. Using a multi-scale approach and a large vegetation dataset (843 plots, 3511 tree species) from 22 secondary forest chronosequences distributed across the Neotropics, we show that successional trajectories of woody plant species richness, stem density and basal area are less predictable in landscapes (4 km radius) with intermediate (40-60%) forest cover than in landscapes with high (greater than 60%) forest cover.

These findings precluded the use of a conventional endovascular approach. A novel technique was developed with the insertion of guidewires through the left femoral and subclavian arteries to deliver stent grafts to cover the dissection entry tear and exclude the thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm.

Important emerging or reemerging viral and bacterial diseases that commonly affect the lung include dengue fever, plague, leptospirosis, and rickettsioses. Most parasitic infections endemic to Africa can also manifest within the thorax, including malaria, amebiasis, hydatid disease, schistosomiasis, paragonimiasis, ascariasis, strongyloidiasis and cysticercosis.

This study aimed to evaluate the bispectral index (BIS) change based on pre-propofol and establish clinical anesthetic depth changes during propofol sequential target-controlled infusion (STCI) in dogs with a plasma target of 5 μg/mL.
Materials And Methods: Twenty healthy male dogs aged 1-3 years and weighing 9.
Effective communication among members of medical teams is an important factor for early and appropriate diagnosis. The terminology used in radiology reports appears in this context as an important link between radiologists and other members of the medical team. Therefore, heterogeneity in the use of terms in reports is an important but little discussed issue.

HRCT plays an important role in the clinical evaluation of fibrosing ILDs. Current treatment perspectives are encouraging and reinforce the need for HRCT scans of adequate technical quality for early detection of fibrosing ILD.

Brazil concentrates now the largest number of cases in the continent and, as the disease speedily progressed throughout the country, prompt and challenging operational strategies had to be taken by institutions caring for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients in order to assure optimal workflows, triage, and management. Although hospitals in the USA, Europe and Asia have shared their experience on this subject, little has been discussed about such strategies in South America or by the perspective of outpatient centers, which are paramount in the radiology field.

Our aim was to determine whether CA 15-3 could be considered a biomarker of disease severity in patients with chronic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (cHP).
Methods: This was a prospective observational study involving adult patients with cHP.
Chest imaging is often used as a complementary tool in the evaluation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, helping physicians to augment their clinical suspicion. Despite not being diagnostic for COVID-19, chest CT may help clinicians to isolate high suspicion patients with suggestive imaging findings. However, COVID-19 findings on CT are also common to other pulmonary infections and non-infectious diseases, and radiologists and point-of-care physicians should be aware of possible mimickers.

The purpose of this review is to address the main clinical and imaging aspects of COVID-19, as well as guidelines for requesting and using imaging methods; measures to protect patients and health care professionals; systems for quantifying pulmonary findings and preparing integrated reports; and the main innovations that have emerged during this pandemic.

There are no pathognomonic CT features for COVID-19 pneumonia, as findings are also common in other infectious diseases and noninfectious aetiologies. Nonetheless, point-of-care physicians should be familiarized with the most common imaging presentations of the COVID-19.

Materials And Methods: In February 2019, an anonymous online survey was sent to medical students. The research contemplated questions on how much students think they know about AI technologies, how much AI discourages them from choosing radiology as a specialty, and whether they believe there is a threat to the radiology job market.
Parasitoses are infectious diseases of global distribution, with predominance in areas of poor sanitation. Parasites cause damage through direct tissue injury and the inflammatory response generated by their migration and establishment in various organs. Thoracic involvement by parasitic disease can generate both specific and nonspecific clinical, laboratorial, and radiologic manifestations, which often makes their diagnosis challenging.

While the blood was related to life since antiquity, scientific investigations on anatomy and physio-logy of the circulation system had to wait until the arrival of the 16th century. In trauma patients, hemorrhagic shock is the main risk factor for multiple organ dysfunction and consequent increased mortality. On the pre-hospital setting intravenous administration of crystalloid solution became the more common intervention during resuscitation of trauma patient due to many reasons although currently new discussions have blossomed on regards type of fluids and resuscitation.

Methods: This was a retrospective study including data on 62 patients undergoing CT scans and MR imaging of the chest at any of seven hospitals in the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro between March of 2014 and June of 2016 and presenting with calcifications on CT scans. T1- and T2-weighted MR images (T1- and T2-WIs) were semiquantitatively analyzed, and the lesion-to-muscle signal intensity ratio (LMSIR) was estimated.
This study was conducted to evaluate the presence of air trapping in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) (non-IPF), showing the radiological pattern of usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP). Retrospectively, we included 69 consecutive patients showing the typical UIP pattern on computed tomography (CT), and 15 final diagnosis of IPF with CT pattern "inconsistent with UIP" due to extensive air trapping. Air trapping at CT was assessed qualitatively by visual analysis and quantitatively by automated-software.
