Experimental studies have demonstrated that () transmits to horses. However, the degree and dynamics of this protozoan infection in the vector's organism have not been fully elucidated. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the infection rate and parasitic load of in , the infection dynamics in this arthropod during experimental infestation in a horse chronically infected with , and to evaluate the trans-stadial and intrastadial transmission competence of by .

In this study, the effect of early exercise, age, body weight (BW), and growth on the articular cartilage and subchondral bones of the tarsocrural joints was evaluated in 40 young Mangalarga Marchador horses allowed free choice exercise in pasture. Twenty of the horses had additional controlled exercise 3 days per week from a mean age of 30 ± 20 days until 36 months. The training program consisted of an increasing number of 15-minute gallop sprints in an oval paddock with a concrete floor covered by a thick layer of sand.

Inhibition of CYP2A is a promising approach in chemoprevention, which could lead to a decrease in cigarette consumption and to a reduction in tobacco-related cancer risk. 8-Methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) is a mechanism-based inhibitor of human CYP2A6 and CYP2A13.

Phlebolits are rare lesions that may appear in all parts of the body (head, maxillary, pelvis and extremities) and can be diagnosed by radiologic means, without any symptomatology. However, in very rare cases, they can be responsible for pain and functional incapacity, mainly in the extremities and when they are related to congenital venous malformations. The authors report two clinical cases in young people, carrying venous malformations of the upper limbs, in which the pain was caused by phlebolits.

Venous ulcers in patients with post thrombotic syndromes are complex situations with multiple therapeutic options. They are responsible for high morbidity rates, conservative treatment is very slow and recurrences are very common. Deep venous reconstructive surgery is an alternative, but it should be based on the morphologic and functional aspects of the venous system and only adopted after a very careful study, including venography.

Objective: Venous aneurysms of the lower limbs are rare. When they involve the deep venous system, they can be associated with deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. The authors report the case of a 63-year-old women evaluated by duplex imaging and venography, in the context of a pulmonary embolism, and detected bilateral large aneurysms of the femoral veins (5 cm in the right femoral vein and 4 cm in the left femoral vein).
